docbear1975: Bram Stoker's Dracula (weird, I know)
It's not weird, I just think that if Coppola was going to make a movie called "Bram Stoker's Dracula" that it might have been a good idea beforehand TO ACTUALLY READ BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA!!!! :O

I've seen toilet paper commercials that were more loyal to that book!

Fairfox: Are some of these in the thread actually "feel-good" movies? My definition seems to be different to some others' here :/.
I meant it in a personal sense, as in anything that leaves you feeling fulfilled and generally awesome afterwards. If some people feel fulfilled after The Human Centipede, then... Well, I don't know what then exactly :P

JDelekto: Actually, when you say "feel-good" movies, if you mean movies that have good replay value, there are several that come to mind; however, a couple I have seen recently are:

The Fifth Element
The Running Man
Demolition Man
The Hudsucker Proxy
Shawshank Redemption

I have to say that Shawshank Redemption is my favorite on that list.
You sir, have goddamn impeccable taste :-)

I'll throw in a few as well:

Love Actually
About Time
The Breakfast Club
Labyrinth
Dead Poets Society

It seems this thread has turned into a general discussion about movies in general.

I've tried to start threads (on other forums) about movies asking a specific question like you did and these threads always devolve into "ooh, my favorite movies are..."

The original question always falls by the wayside. Movie threads are easy to derail, I guess?

Before I changed my comment, it originally said ">inb4 somebody jokes and says 'Saw'". I changed it because I didn't think anybody would actually do it (or that just my saying it would make somebody do it). I was wrong.

I think it means movies that instill/leave you feeling in good spirits. Replay value is something else entirely.

Real Genius is a good one!

I would think porn movies would have been the go-to jokes rather than the opposite "feel bad" types, but apparently not!

Wishbone: Love Actually
About Time
The Breakfast Club
Labyrinth
Dead Poets Society
OK, The last three on that list I have seen, and have regrettably forgotten to add those to my list. However, I have not seen Love Actually or About Time, it looks like I have something interesting to watch now!

I believe that I chose "Real Genius" because I was in college at the time and I found it very inspiring. While I wasn't building a laser-powered "death ray" (which you can do with some Fresnel lenses and a sunny day), tackling calculus, physics and electronics were quite the struggle, especially while I was still wanting to spend time on my old 99/4a.

Me and that TI go back a few years further though, when my parents bought it for $59 at a Sears fire sale. There was even a time while we (the family) were all around that CRT reading and offering ideas to play Scott Adams' Adventure!

...that's not how you read a book, tinyE.
Okay - my fave feel good movies:

VIVA (2007)
Playboy-inspired sexploitation pastice by one Anna Biller who directed, wrote, and played the title role. I just love those reacreations of colorful seventies interiors (also done by Anna Biller)
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPbdONw42KI

KAMIKAZE GIRLS (2004) is a buddy movie about two radically opposite personalities, a biker chick and a girl obsessed with lolita fashion, crashing into each other at top speed. The colors are saturated, the music is great and the entire thing is bursting with anarchistic insanity.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbFEPS8PPic
Cannibal Holocaust. When I see it, I remember why I'm a misanthrope and all is well.

As a "shock movie", I don't find it so shocking these days given the wide range of human depravity which already exists that media joyously covers.

Wishbone: Dead Poets Society

No, you have to draw little pictures on each and every sheet., pulling them in rapid succession caused those pictures to animate, making a cartoon out of wiping one's bum.

However, they were probably drawn on the assumption that one didn't have the galloping trots.

Well, I imagine that British movies probably aren't all that popular in the US. I highly recommend both of them though. Love Actually is technically a Christmas movie, but I'll happily watch it any day of the year.
