Can somebody from Switzerland confirm and describe this? Various sources, including BBC confirmed this in 2014, as a logical development from liberal/libertine principle: "If its your property, you can do anything with it".

I'd appreciate facts.

Search for "cat Christmas swiss" for articles.

Thank you!

"I thank myself for being a weirdo, which I am called because I eat Dogs, I am better with a killed dog on the plate than boiled Omar or Fish semen - called caviar."

and so on. I assume most of the voters were Swiss as its an internal newspaper.

Also this (Sirius Global Animal, NGO).
Some videos I found: Eating dogs, Interview with Zellweger

Gersen: It's definitely not "common" (i.e you are not going to have cats or dogs server in a restaurant) but I have already heard that some peasant or in some states it can happen from time to time, mostly by older peoples.

It's mostly a fake outrage that pop up in the news from time to time, mostly in free tabloid newspaper, but most peoples don't give a damn about it either way.

Siannah: (....)

Fact is, I live for nearly 5 decades in this country and neither have I heard of such a case before nor could I point at anyone who did it.
But I would assume you could find 5 guys in ANY country, who anonymously would admit that they did.

Siannah: ... "sos chats noiraigue".... (issued) the petition and pretty much everything else is about media picking up the claim of Swiss eating cats - congratulations, you've just found the source of it.

Another "it's a hoax" link from Pranksters.com that you missed in your "research".
-------
There's nothing wrong with a law to forbid it. The "problem" is that we're rather liberal and don't what everything regulated by law. It's downright insane to drive around in winter time without winter tires here, yet they aren't compulsory by law.

Narakir: I've never heard of anyone eating cats and dogs in three decades here, it's a hoax and (swearing).

No. Not the Swiss. Chinese people do, during Yulin festival and then, this is not at Christmas. Unlike what animal rights protesters say, though, this is only to advertise and promote locally (by this i mean in China), meat consumption (especially on dog and cat meat products). And they eat, they neither play with nor waste their food.

Only "news site" that seems to have had a follow up (or at least only one I found in a 5-10 minute google search) was the mirror, where one of their reporter asked the original poster of the story (SOS Chats Noiraigue) about the 3% figure, and they replied that they couldn't tell where the figure came from. Considering the consumption of "other" meat (not beef, veal, pork, sheep, goat, horse, poultry, rabbit or game) for Swiss people is about 0.1%, the 3% figure they claim seems like quite a fiction.
Swiss cat? Ewwwww.....
So the BBC is into tabloid "news" now? Interesting.

Thanks for the article. Looks like "damage control" to me - I found no real anti-evidence, except indirect cite of Giuseppe “Beppe” Bigazzi, who listed detailed cook recipe and called it delicacy, whilst claiming it to be used during famine. Delicacy and famine do not combine well together.

I would appreciate some facts.

Okay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuC0uZ28hTI

I don't know. I've never eaten myself.
You did google the restaurant's name, right? Here it is if you're wondering.

I'm not Swiss but I eat pussy all the time. It doesn't have to be christmas.
No it's even worse, they're cannibals, every year at Christmas time they're hunting down unsuspecting German tourists and butcher them.

You should be careful about that, look at what happened to Michael Douglas...he was such an avid cunnilinctor he got throat cancer.
