Siannah: What a fantastic job you're doing. /sarcasm
The voice of an ethologist and animal psychiatrist means shit, yet a few of the 50 comments and the up-/down vote ratio of them, you consider a "reliable enough source", to project it on millions. Lovely.
I included you post (means shit) and I have drawn conclusions based upon votes in swiss forum. I consider it reliable, because of the sufficient group diversity and composition. For example, pro-dog eating voice of "meat is just meat" got 500 upvotes and 60 downvotes.
Siannah: Yes you do generalize. You already made you opinion back on page 2:
Lin545: which I assume is mostly done and voted by Swiss people - - accoding to the percentages of votes given to those protesting and defending ("irrelevancing / whatever-ing") the dog meat consumtion - I can 95% verdict that dogs and cats are indeed being eaten in Switzerland.
Siannah: This is not a generalization, generalization would be all Swiss people eat dogs/cats or if you are Swiss - then you eat dogs/cats.
I stated that 95% chance, some percentage of Swiss eat dog/cats- chance size being projection of:
a) acknowledgement of problem in media and informational outlets
b) dog consumption bystanders by percentage of votes.
Siannah: From there on, you're just running your ugly agenda for whatever reason.
Guess what? I can safely verdict by 100% you being an mudslinger with no freakin' clue.
As I have not written all that, I am just sharing what is publicly accessible.
I would be running agenda, if I would cherry pick the results, mute opinions or try to connect this discussion to some goal - which I am not doing.
Siannah: But you want to get to the bottom of this? Then google for "SOS Chats Noiraigue" and you see where this all is coming from.
Are they now the only guys with a clue or a more extremist animal-protection group then PETA? Decide for yourself. Though take note, that even they claim that it's about 3% of swiss people doing so (and I doubt they have anything to back even that number up).
/Siannah out
Googled and I see some kind of campaign to protect cats. Please explain if I am missing something. What would be wrong with a law to forbid murder of domestic animals? I have already explained why their percentage is not reliable. I don't see how they are connected to PETA.
morolf: Hmm, I have to admit the pattern of up and down votes in that comment thread you mentioned is
interesting :-) But there's no way to tell how representative that is, one would have to do a poll with a large sample size to get a better picture.
Anyway, this thread has been highly entertaining...thanks for that :-)
Thank you for posting the link to that article!
morolf: Pigs are omnivores though, there have been quite a few documented cases throughout the ages of them eating even humans. I think I even read about some case a few years ago in which the mafia in southern Italy fed some guy they wanted to get rid of to pigs - while he was still alive.
This moment is also present in the Snatch, the mafia boss feeds everyone to the pigs.
