like Wolfenstein it feels old man same like zombies.
get something original like a country X, for instance Israel, Pakistan etc. fight over something sensitive with US or something (examples of objects worth fighting for) Nuke codes, Internet Seed, top secret military research, etc)

this brings some good sides out of both sides one the "bad" guys have reason to fight, good guys have reason to fight"
Umm... you bought Wolfenstein, what did you expect?

There are other games without Nazis out there. Quite a lot actually. Of course the gaming industry is rather US-centric...

I can really recommend STALKER, if you want some seriously good shooters with a not-so-off-the-mill scenario.

it does but games have to pc looks like and nazi killing is the most pc fighting ever
Play Spec Ops: The Line then.
Yes, it's getting old. But I think it's more due to the thematic history of a specific franchise. And nazis are just like zombies go-to for bad guys. Israel and Pakistan are ongoing sensitive political subjects. And companies are afraid of the backlash they would receive from that. Personally, I don't really care who is the antagonist, hell, make my country an antagonist, there certainly is a material for that.
Yup, Nazis and WWI and/or WWII games in general are extremely old and cliche and stale and boring. Not sure why devs keep re-hashing that same old crap year after year forever. I usually don't buy games that do that since it's all been done a million times before already.

Guess it's part of the appeal of the scenario that people perceive it as having very little moral ambiguity with a clear sense of good and bad. Nazis are also stylistically quite the villain.

i actually do like the alternative history that wolvenstein presents. WW2 is far enough behind us these days ( almost no veteran survives anymore ) to discover new points of interest that could fit a gaming environment.

red alert was quite innovative back in the days with the time travel plot to kill hitler who was just released from prison.

and of course the second world war period will always provide more then enough locations and situations that some people like to visit or revisit.

but personally i rather choose for a sf or fantasy minded/alternate universe setting then to feel hampered by a given games theme in any way.

Fighting against terrorisme is such a dual moral value for example.... of course terrorisme is bad but if you follow some of those back grounds... you know ..... the usual wealthy something something that leads to the downfall of several poor something something story

So yea, there are worse topics then fighting of german soldiers for what ever reason in a game

Also, if you have no idea why game devs usually avoid the subject of currently existing nations fighting over anything sensitive, just look at the Devotion debacle, the various accusations about propaganda or racist tones in certain games (or movies), and the "keep politics out of our games" outcries from 'many' vocal gamers. Nazis are safe, and playing it safe obviously is better for business.

sensitive only is sensitive if people think it is.

here is a likely scenario that absolute could happen in a parallel world.

Sweden Get so sick of Swedish Meatballs that the government order a top secret meeting with the elite special forces
objectives...
Steal the coca cola top secret recipe from the US.
so blah blah lot of people die and it get stolen or not with some really good reasons that both sides have why they are right.

in overall this more interesting then some stupid WW2 or zombie wargame that's been chew 1000's times before.

Killing Nazis is what Wolfenstein is about. That's like buying Doom and complaining that the only enemy you get to fight are demons.
No. It does not. Go away, you toddlers :-D
The Axis powers fought the largest world war in modern history. It's to be expected...

... but...

There are numerous games with enemies -- Japanese, Russians, North Koreans, Vietnamese (communist), Chinese, former Iraqi Army, Taliban, CIA... and completely fictional enemies (and more TBH).

You're right. I think they should be replaced with Communists.
