hedwards: I don't necessarily agree, I think it depends a great deal on how much they're charging and how much game the original game has.
The armor/weapons/skills ones I tend to avoid as well just because they tend to either be worthless or destroy the challenge. Although, I have gotten those in the past as part of a GOTYE.
Personally, I found the FO:NV DLC to be some of the best I've ever played. I loved sneaking through the fog and trying to figure my way through the content even though I repeatedly died.
Tauto: The armor/weapons/skills ones, should be free or integrated with an update.TGM works for me:)
It's definitely a money grab, but worse it tends to break the game in various ways. I'm always somewhat tempted to just disable those kinds of DLC when they come bundled as they tend to lower the difficulty of the game via a purchase. At bare minimum they're often an easy source of cash early on in the game.
I personally, think it would be a lot more fun if the weapons and what have you would be the result of a short quest.
Nicole28: These days, sadly, there aren't a whole lot of DLCs that are meant to genuinely add on or to enhance the fun. They are mostly mechanics that should have been there right from the start, or parts of the story sliced and diced out, so that they can charge you more for the game.
Yes, I take it I'm not the only one that misses old school expansion packs that typically doubled or at least significantly increased the amount of gameplay on a game you'd been playing.
Cases like *coughhellfirecough* not withstanding.
