DreamedArtist: so you can take money from the people and weapons? cause I am looking at some of the gameplay and no one is doing it
avatar
Fenixp: Not weapons, but you can loot pouches with money and keys from guard's belts.

And, of course, you get rewarded for stealing paintings, valuables, cracking safes in houses, stuff like that.
Perfect it seems like it has stuff the new thief has well sold time to give this a shot,

This is my jam

Thieving/stealing is not the main thing in the game. You may, however, sneak behind an enemy and steal his purse. Or get into a house, guarded by guards and do a heist for fun. In Dishonored it's more about sneaking and/or killing, taking a certain way to get to your goal. There some side missions, where you have to get stuff or place stuff and if you choose to go in a sneaky way, it gets similar to Thief. I think. I have played very little of Thief.

I love the classic thief games just cause you can loot shit and get side tracked on stealing stuff which can make the game longer and still feel like you are doing something that effects the main story so having the option of what you said means more gameplay! :D

MadyNora: Yes, you can possess hagfish. It's pretty easy to sneak past certain obstacles by being a fish :D
avatar
Dessimu: Now I remember one certain place! That's where if you possess a hagfish, you could get straight into the bath house/basement! Though I went in as a rat and then somehow stealthy and then in a bloody way. Have yet to try swimming in.
Hmm I've never tried hagfish possession on that level. I just used it to escape after being captured by Daud's guys, and to leave the Boyle mansion through the sewers.
Plus it's a nice way to prevent being eaten by fish, when I have to cross a body of water.

Gonen32: - Highlighted objectives are a bit of a turnoff. I want to explore and figure things myself*.
most modern games plagued by this.... I tried to play witcher3 without quest markers - well, hardly doable - I had to re-enable quest markers just to look one time on a map where am I supposed to go, same with fallout 4 - game doesnt actually bother telling you where to go.

But Dishonored not only lets you to disable 100% of it's HUD( I turned off all except hp/mana) but also you can understand what to do by readind your journal(!!!!) - rare thing today.

I wish it will come to GoG one day - one of my favorite games of all time!
The one thing I dislike about Dishonored is that it gives you a ton of powers used almost exclusively to kill people and then gives you the bad ending for killing people. Even the bad guys like known assassins and thieves count against your karma.

DreamedArtist: I have to try that game out, It looks amazing and similar to Thief series.
Dishonored reminds me most of the Deus Ex games besides the lack of huge hub peaceful areas with how the game is designed so one can choose to be stealthy or or play it like a FPS. In the Thief 1 and 2 at least you basically had to be stealthy.

thanks for letting me know, I'll try it when it comes to gog
It thought it was amazing. It could have been even better of course, not as streamlined as I would have preferred it but I don't see the point in complaining of lost potential when the execution was better than good enough. The only problem is that while the game offer an open world space, the replayability falls flat after a second or third playthrough (which for me is very good since I rarely replay games). I wouldn't be surprised if I could map out the majority of the maps in my head.

I've been itching to replay the game a 3rd time and this time minimise the amount of powers I'm allowed to use especially Blink and trying to get Ghost at every level. The hard part is to avoid using Blink as using it is probably my favourite part of the game excluding killing people in a strange sequence of events.

I can't wait to play the sequel. I really hope they explore a certain, mysterious character without turning him into a cliché villain or a deus ex that saves the day.

So make him more G-Man, then ?

Gonen32: So make him more G-Man, then ?
Based on the little I know of him, I guess but I prefer him to be an entity on his own rather than being based on a known figure.

Of course, but he reminds me of him in the way that they both are very important figures despite the fact that we know very little about them.

And we are talking about Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows right ? https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/5c/cc/a9/5ccca94465e1c5958c122a8c1b758b97.jpg

msilaczewski: The game was awesome, although i could never do the "stealthy approach"... ain't nobody got time for that xD
I'm disappointed. Very, very disappointed.
;)
I loved 'ghost' approach in Dishonored. It was my main playthrough. I tried later to get a second one, with high chaos but it got boring after three maps :/ It's too easy.

Same issue, I just can't replay the game though. It gets boring on a no kill run as all tools you get are used for killing.

I'd say it's an opposite issue :p
I can play it on a no-kill run only, killing is easy and boring as hell :D
