Those load scr.... wait a sec.
Those fast load sc....ffs!
The load screens were so amazingly fast, that it is the main thing I recall about the game.
I did like it though :D

Dishonored is one of my favourite games of all time. The reactivity alone in that game is utterly insane, and when coupled with incredibly fun stealth mechanics, extremely open level design and amazing art style, I can't help but say "What is there not to love?"
As for similarity to Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - I wouldn't say they're that similar, actually. DM was a lot more focused on combat and had much more linear levels. Combat system was also entirely different, along with stealth mechanics not being nearly as tight. I guess what you're primarily referring to is Arkane creating games which give player a lot of options at any given time - but, generally speaking, I'm kinda fine with that :-P
As for seeing trough walls, that power is so entirely unnecessary I never really used it too often anyway - the game has great sound design so you can easily hear dudes trough walls and you should stick to places where you get to see your opponents before they see you anyway, the x-ray vision was kinda unreliable at times.
Generally speaking, before writing something off as "Masochistic", you might want to give it a shot first.

Gonen32: *Yes I know that I can choose to not use it and disable the highlighted objectives, but I'm not a masochist and its a crappy excuse, I want to play the game as designed.
So on ... One hand you don't like these optional features but on other hand you're going to use them in spite of them being optional? Where's the logic in that? I never played Dishonored with objective markers enabled. If it was their "creative vision" to have objective markers, there wouldn't be an option to disable them. Leroux: Yeah, that aspect is pretty disappointing, and one of the reasons why I haven't played through the game yet. It encourages you to be more peaceful, or rather warns you about wreaking havoc, but actually caters more to the chaos side of things. I constantly think I'm not having as much fun with it as I could have if I'd use the full spectrum of available options. I guess I'll just have to scrap the idea of behaving like a noble person in the game and be an asshole instead, just for the fun of it. And afterwards watch the good ending on YouTube and pretend I made it happen myself. ;)
Yeah, it sucks, and is addressed in the DLC. However, I've had a lot more fun doing a ghost run than I've had with a full-out murder run, so I'd not say it's "Robbing player of fun" - more along the lines of silent sneaky types not really needing all that many tools at their disposal. Even with massively widened pacifist arsenal of Knife of Dunwall, I still didn't really use anything, ever.Post edited March 01, 2016 by Fenixp

Well, in that case maybe the issue is more about me not being a great fan of stealth games but thinking that the stealth approach is what's encouraged by these load screen messages and chaos/kill counts.marcusmaximus

I think, when it comes to level design it did a better job than Deus Ex 3 which itself was good to me. (Not as good as the original Deus Ex of course) It seems like the type of games where both stealth and combat are viable and fun are still relatively rare. Heck the only kickstarted game I know of this type was Consortium: The tower which didn't meet its funding. :(
