Lexor: And if you manage to get the base Stellaris game then all packs will start to be discounted for you.

EDIT: I've nominated you for one of Stellaris base game codes in the thread I linked. If you don't have Amazon Prime subscription and my nomination gets the accept then you should receive the game code from this giveaway.
Thank you for doing that, and the information, much appreciated, and no I don't have an Amazon Prime subscription.
Now thanks to the kindness of Lexor and generosity of finkleroy, I own the base game, for free.

Much of the afternoon has been spent checking out all the DLCs.

The game and assorted extras sure look like a lot of thought and time has gone into them, but now I just need to figure out what I can afford right now, and maybe what I should leave until later.

Stellaris Expansions Pack - $31.69 as 75% off $126.59 AUD

Stellaris Species Pack - $20.09 as 64% off $56.19 AUD

Stellaris Stories Pack - $11.99 as 75% off $47.89 AUD

That comes to $63.77 AUD

I'd also like the extras found in the Galaxy Edition, but the upgrade pack at $18.50 AUD is not currently discounted.

Then there is the Complete Soundtrack, which would appear to include the Original Soundtrack found in the Galaxy Edition upgrade. Five hours compared to half that. That also isn't discounted at $7.89 AUD.

So if I also grabbed those now, it would all come to $90.16 AUD.

And all without having ever played the game, just liking the sound of it.

That would be the most I've ever paid for a game, outside of the console games I bought my kids at Xmas and on birthdays. Of course I was working back then, and are in forced retirement now, so have to watch my pennies.

I am about to grab the two free DLC though, along with maybe the Season Pass for We Happy Few, plus maybe the Deadly Days game.

Decisions Decisions ..... Money Money!

Do you have some reliable source about that?

I’ve ever only seen a single download for Stellaris soundtrack (well, two actually because of GOG messing up, but it’s the same one twice), including the tracks for the base game and the expansions. As far as I know, it is the same one that comes with both the Galaxy Edition upgrade and the Complete Soundtrack DLC.

My only source is what is mentioned on each web page.

The Complete Soundtrack says 5 hours.
The Original Soundtrack says two and a half hours.

Going by the wording at the Complete Soundtrack page, it not only contains the music from the original base game, but also the music from some of the expansions .. perhaps all of them.

You should not trust what is written on the store pages, these descriptions have probably never been updated ;)

I only bought Galaxy Edition Upgrade Pack, never the Complete Soundtrack DLC. But I have access to the full soundtrack from my GOG library, including the tracks added with the expansions.

As far as I can tell, buying either Galaxy Edition or Galaxy Edition Upgrade Pack automatically adds Complete Soundtrack to one’s GOG library.

Goodo, thanks for the info.

Unless someone tells us what the actual situation is, then we can only really go on trust. That's the way of the world I guess. I had no valid reason to doubt what I read.

You'd think GOG and the provider would ensure descriptions were up-to-date, but so often they aren't. The provider especially should be proactive, and it reflects badly on them when they aren't. GOG at least have some excuse based on the huge number of games they have to keep tabs on, deal with.

Anyway I have decided to forgo any version of the soundtrack for now, and just wait for a discount on the Upgrade pack, as I am spending enough money as it is. I could wait and hope the DLC Packs get even cheaper, but there is no guarantee of that ... though now that I've said that and are about to purchase the three packs, I will be proved wrong.

As far as I remember no Stellaris expansion has ever seen a better discount than -50%.
So the current packs seem to be the best offer we got so far.
I see the game has some kind of role-playing feature .

There was a newsletter discount code for 75% off individual expansion packs last year (late July). I don't do gog newsletters myself, but someone posted the code, which I used to get a single expansion. I think this discount code was specifically targeted to people who owned the game, as most people posted generic discount codes for a starter pack bundle or somesuch, and only very few codes were posted for the expansions by themselves.

I'm pretty certain there have also been some 55%-60% discounts for expansions based on the "buy 3+ to get a bigger discount" concept, though I can't peg specific dates for those anymore. I think in the first half of 2021?

I suspect they're experimenting with bigger discounts in different ways, to see what that does to revenue, and I'd expect less restrictive discounts to show up before the year is quite over.

horvay: Reminder Stellaris (base game) is free on Amazon Prime Gaming (comes with a GOG key) until March 5th, which conviently - likely purposely - coincides with this sale.
Well i played the base game (Free through PRIME) and I'm really enjoying it... I'm an old X player and this is like X on steroids, well the grand political parts and I'm here for it. Not a strat guy by nature but this was enjoyable to play for me.
Bought stellaris last year on sale and I was going to buy all the dlc individually on this year's next sale too , now i see this ridiculous dlc packs on sale and I'm just laughing my ass off. this is the best sale I've seen xD

As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, there was a significant discount on everything in a special discount email with Redeem codes, sometime last year I think it was. I've never played the game or owned any of it, yet I got that email, and my memory says it was something like one or two packs that contained everything, though that wasn't clear to me until too late. Anyway, the price for everything, as I recall it, was probably around what I have just paid for the three packs of this thread, but the base game was also included, and perhaps the Soundtrack etc.

The one or two packs were uniquely named, and only available during that discount email window, and disappeared from store listings after that. If there have been new DLCs released since then, then of course that offering would now be deemed incomplete.

There is a thread here somewhere, where I made queries and got answers, but alas too late ... perhaps in the Stellaris forum.

P.S. I think there was also other Stellaris discounts in that email, so it may be the one that gogtril34987 is referring to, though I would have picked earlier in the year. Anyway see some of this as a loose memory recall.

My antispam does not let GOG advertisement reach me, so I only know about the public discounts applied store-wide ;)
Edit:
I'm not seeing any discount, though the homepage still lists it as "Now on sale".
Maybe it's literally only visible for owners of the base game. I've never seen a situation like this before.

Lone_Scout: Hmmm... define "exciting"
Exciting, adj. - term constantly used by the GOG marketing department, who don't have access to a thesaurus.

If you don't want any GOG newsletters, unsubscribe from your subscriptions section.
If you do want them, add gog.com to the list of safe domains, or newsletter@email2.gog.com if a full address is required.
Either way, you can manually check the newsletter discounts thread.

The discount appears when you put them in the cart.
