OK, so I connected my GoG account to my Steam account, how do I disconnect ?

I ask because since making this connection I am getting Adware/Malware issues on my Mac.

Contact support and maybe they can help you. But this is not likely the cause of the problem.

You can only connect one Steam library per GOG.com account. This process is permanent.
I guess you may contact support, and disconnect your games as well.

Provided you haven't downloaded the games you obtained from the steam account they might be willing to reverse the process, though it will in all likelyhood involve removing those games from your library. That said you didn't get your malware/adware from gogconnect.

Quite agree it may not be the cause, and no games came over, infact I only have about 35 to 36 games on steam and most I have re bought DRM free, so with that in mind I removed steam from my Mac I really have no use for it.

GOG Connect works by GOG looking at your profile page - this is why the profile must be public. There is no possibility that it could give you malware. Your PC is not involved at all.

There was just a big public dump of passwords from LinkedIn, Myspace, and a bunch of other sites. A lot of people are getting a ton more spam and phishing attempts because of it.

Alternatively, it could be that you had adware before and just didn't notice. Modern adware tries very hard to unobtrusive. Were you running regular Malwarebytes or Spybot scans? How about regular Antivirus scans?

This isn't about Adware, it's about disconnecting from GOG disconnecting from STEAM, and none of the sites are making any of this easier

How does one unlink GOG Connect from one's Steam game library?

I have never benefited from this service anyway, as it has never detected any of my games or even actually worked. I have now further set my privacy settings on Steam to private, as to avoid any sort of interaction between these two services.

I'm asking here, because the customer support does not seem to be very helpful about this topic both on Steam and GOG.

This connection has absolutely 0 to do with you having problems with malware and adware. It is done apart from your pc, on the internet, so it cannot have any effect on your computer. You are being paranoid and need to learn more about how tech works if you're going to use it.

You most likely are doing some things you shouldnt do on the internet, which is causing your problem, or its a shared computer with someone who visits and downloads shady things.

I will never understand why people use computers who dont understand them, you dont drive without a license, you have to learn before you use. You should do the same with computers.

There's nothing to avoid.
If you don't go to GOG's Connect page, there's nothing happening automatically.
If you set your Steam settings to private, you can't make them interact even if you tried to.

If you want to make certain absolutely nothing happens anyway, add
www.gog.com/connect
to your blocked URL's list, or make it automatically redirect somewhere.

That way there's no way you can even accidentally trigger any game search process with GOG Connect.
Of course, if you actually connected your accounts in the first place to get free games, I see no reason why you all of a sudden would try to block that from happening.

As people have said in your own thread, September 2018 may actually be later than the last run of GOG Connect so it's not surprising you've not seen any benefit.

I'm also not sure of the reason you'd want to unlink them, nothing gets added automatically so if you don't do anything then nothing happens. Besides, you've already mentioned setting your profile to private. This is sufficient to prevent GOG from 'spying' on you.

So by that analogy, anyone who knows about computers will need to learn how to have a girlfriend.
