And then, I'm not seeing things...


Basically whenever I refresh the forum, I'll see a couple of topics, like a couple of giveaway topics, and about a second or two later, they disappear. I was able to click and go into these topics, and see that they are not deleted topics, but once I go back to the main general forum, they disappear again, until I refresh, which only keeps them up for a second.

Yeah, this is strange indeed. I can not find another topic where anyone is discussing this issue. So I'm asking now, is anyone having this issue? I only started noticing it this evening.

Similar things have been noted before. I don't have a definitive answer as to why, but I would guess server caching issues.

Are you using barefoot essentials or something of the sort? Because that moves giveaway topic to the very bottom of the page, and it may explain what you're experiencing.

Edit: Apparently, from the "show off the wiki page" thread, you are. Check the bottom of the page for giveaway threads

I've not noticed disappearing topics but sometimes I'll come back to the main forums tab and see a topic greyed out I'm sure I never entered

If the OP of a topic is low rated, that happens. It's not a bug, it's a feature!

I consider it a very bad misfeature, as it is extremely annoying for those who actually want to follow the topic.

Shouldn't disappear when low-rated, but when marked-as-spam by enough people. Low-rated only marks it as perpetually read.

At least I think that's how it behaves.

The topic literally disappeared for me less than a minute after I posted it. Doubt it would be low rated in that amount of time. I obviously can see it now.

Though I saw it in my post history earlier, and when I clicked on it got an error, and it did not show up in the general discussions forum.

I'm just going to write this off as just a very bugged evening. I don't use the forums enough to noticed these issues I guess.

Normal things. Maybe the thread didn't disappear, but was moderated, instead? Maybe, their title changed only and nothing else, or part of the contents?

Lately, mods are ninjas, they started doing funny stuff, without majority of people noticing. But then again, i might be seeing things too. Or worse, not seeing things i should...

This is what I was referring to in my first reply. The replies about low ratings wouldn't apply to this, but to older posts you said you had seen but which disappeared - though the correct reason to that should, as was already mentioned, be Barefoot Essentials (since it runs just after the page loads, and rearranges the threads to separate giveaways as per your settings - you can change the settings in Account->Essentials->Forums).

Crikey, haven't seen them in years, I thought they died out or got renamed.
