Not too ashamed to say that I had to google Droog. I assume you mean "a steep rock in India" as per Wikipedia because we all know that site is never wrong. :)

Actually, I had no idea. I was just doing a play on her forum name and the 'Borg' from Star Trek. Interesting coincidence that there's an actual rock called that!

My tastes changed drastically over the years. I used to enjoy real time strategy games and would spend hours on them, was also a huge fan of racing games and first person shooters. Nowadays for me it's mostly RPG's of any kind, turn based strategies and rogue-likes.
I still enjoy some old FPS games to a degree but I'm very picky, the genre that never changed was 2D platformers, I'll always enjoy these at any age. I think this change was influenced by the way the genres have evolved - the C&C franchise and RTS genre has turned to crap and almost extinct, car racing is almost all arcade and FPShooters are the worst, It's either zombies or military, only a few standout like the remakes of Shadow Warrior and Rise of the Triad.

To an extent. I was very opposed to the first-person shooter when it first reared its head back in the days of Doom. Today I totally enjoy an FPS, as long as it's not just run and gun (like Doom). I had enjoyed computer games for a long time before I bought my first PC in 1998. The game which made me take the plunge was Baldur's Gate : a proper "PC game", as opposed to the stuff I had had to play until then on my Dragon 32, Sega Mega Drive and Play Station 1. My other favourite genre to begin with was the RTS. I still think the RTS died a premature death, but I can kind of understand why that happened (I think). Another genre which I've recently got into is stealth games. This is probably now my joint-favourite genre, along with RPGs. Genres these days are a bit more blurred than they used to be, so it's a difficult question to answer.

For me, my tastes in gaming haven't changed that much; instead, the games changed in a way that made them no longer fit me. RPGs are the biggest example: I enjoyed the early Final Fantasy games, but FF6 wasn't as good as the earlier ones, and FF7 was lousy. My preferred type of RPG is something that you don't really see much: turn-based single-player RPGs where the main focus is on fighting enemies to get stronger. (Take a look at the original Dragon Quest/Warrior; there is a segmented speedrun on Youtube that has a 2 hour segment of the player just pacing around fighting enemies for experience. I actually enjoy this sort of thing sometimes.)
Before anybody mentions the Disgaea series, there are a few issues here. One is that the main story doesn't involve this sort of thing, another is that the main story has non-interactive cutscenes (which, especially in the earlier titles, aren't always skipable), a third is that I personally don't like the tactics battle style (where the battle takes place on a grid and positioning is an important part of the strategy) as much as the more traditional turn-based style (which abstracts away positioning).

Not really. I have had a significant drop in my ability to focus. Anything that takes time to get into has a harder time hooking me in which means I may be less likely to actually get going on something I might have. Reading is also out now. If there is text I just skip it. Even in RPG's which means I'm in trouble if the map system isn't constantly pointing to where I need to be.

More responsibilities less gaming.
Take out responsibilites out of age and i think im good.
edit: well im a bit drunk srry.
The answer is yes. Im more arcady, and roguelikey rather than RPGey.
i noticed i tend to skim foward an rpg nowadays.
