That's the biggest reason i even considered it. I refuse to purchase games that are online-only. I don't feel like i've lost anything.

The gameplay I watched left me cold. It looks more like a downscaled MMO than anything else. World bosses? Please... Not everything is soloable? You can piss right off. I don't want to see other "saviors of the world" in my games. Forced multiplayer is one of the things I hate the most.

Itemization also seems bleak right now with everything just having arbitrary attack and defense scores.

At least it seems they changed the runeword system from D2 and didn't just copy it (luckily).

Easy rebuttal? PoE has never been anything but upfront about their methodology of doing business, nor have they ever been known for offline games to begin with. Not to mention, most people that started out with PoE in the early days ended up with way more content than most of us bargained for...for free.

Does it end up dinged for not having an offline mode? Yeah, somewhat, as it'd make traversing the hubs a lot quicker, not having to deal with janky server stuff when you waypoint or TP back to offload loot/currency items, but again, they never promised an offline mode to begin with.

It's not mentioned because if you're going to be stuck playing an online only game, why would you waste your time and money on an inferior experience, when you can have a superior one, (in my opinion) for free?

It's not being glossed over because of hypocrisy, it's being glossed over because it's a literal non-issue on a list of things that PoE does right versus the things Diablo 3 screwed up, had to fix, or never fixed, all while still costing money to purchase, with less content.

You didn't play endgame D3 much? (since release - inferno and things)

That bosses bit....what do they mean by that btw? Like bosses people join up to fight?

You'd loathe Demon's souls, then(although I think that can be turned off, but some areas need a certain "world alignment" based on people's gameplay to access).

Also fwiw if one could control who gets to join it might(keyword might) be fun for a bit perhaps.

By endgame I mean the final bosses of the main game and the expansion.....I usually could buy 1000 health potions by that point(although iirc there is a limit), and all bosses for me were easy as heck(pun intended) except the expansion end boss....I had to chip away at his health for like 15 minutes even with my best attacks.

I'm basically trying to say the health pots cooldowns, with health potions stocked up and ready(along with skills to hide from damage/shield/etc) were ok being set to what they were.

I'm saying inferno difficulty when white mobs could hit you for 3/4 (and often 1 hit you) of your hp easy every 1 seconds (and everyone went for %LL until nerfed), and later (more recent patches) on high GR where hp pots were useless due the cool down and you either had to evade everything (that was often very hard/impossible for many) and the only thing you could compensate was life on hit (that had very low numbers compared to total life) or some LL from skills. Due the stupid way D3 handle hp pots it's really hard to sustain yourself in higher difficulty content compared to other H&S and at some point many people (even though they have strong gear) end up running away because they can either run or die - running away itself is not a bad thing but there was time in D3 that you had to run away more often than fight (even if you had great gear - at some point there was also paradox there [because of AH] that drop rate was terrible so you had to kill the stronger mobs to get better gear, but to kill stronger mobs you had to have better gear and so on... without uber luck [keep in mind that you couldn't reroll stats in gear like you can now] most people couldn't progress without AH, back then if the hp pots worked like D2/PoE it wouln't be that big problem).

And also, sorry but killing last boss have nothing to do with endgame (also instanced bosses is another artificial raising of the difficulty level just like hp pots on 60s cooldown). I'm biased as I spent a lot more time in D3 I ever wanted, from the 1st patch, and saw everything, every stupid decision they made, every thing they tried to fix in RoS but it didn't work because core mechanics was shit (stack-able stats to infinity).

Reminds me of WOW style end bosses.....eh, It's not for everyone but with friends it might be nice for a bit.

In console D3 ALL my game are private.....which is nice.

That reminds me of lets plays on YT....many half arse the gameplay or don't seem to be into the games, and they run through them and miss stuff & it annoys me a good amount.

Last boss iq quite literally endgame....as in end of the game(or campaign at least)...that is what most deem endgame to mean. ;)

No, endgame content is commonly called the content that you do after beating the main story, getting "max" level, etc. The thing you do to min/max your character.

Seems to me that you just finished the games and never gave it second thought - kind of like you can drive car daily but you will never know how it behave at 100% until you take it to the race track. Yea, for you it was comfortable raid but for racers at high speed the car is terrible. Something like that.

If inferno is a difficulty then you do not HAVE to do it.


To me that's completionism stuff, and endgame is just finishing the main game/expansions to the credits.

For some that is enough.....as long as one has fun. I DO go more completionist with some games but not all...i'm not that OCD addled or driven to do such.....well mostly anyways.

Ok, clearly you have not understood how this type of game works. Let's take D2 for example. If you beat the game on normal, then you cleared about 1/3 of the game. At that point your character would be between level 24-28 and you couldn't even access the final skill tier in the skill trees. The game and it's subsequent 'clones' are based around and balanced around the fact that you beat the game 3 times. Skills only become viable once you leveled past something you could achieve on normal and there is a ton of unique gear for character levels 60+ that only starts to drop on the third difficulty.
If you don't touch the game after normal mode, you haven't beaten the game. The final part of D2 is beating Diablo/Baal on Hell.

You know, I wrote another wall of text why it didn't work back then and why "If inferno is a difficulty then you do not HAVE to do it." was not true at all (even though I already briefly explained it earlier) but I deleted it because there is no point.

For you hp pot mechanic was not a problem (because you just wanted finish the game) and it's fine, you had a fun with content and it's fine. Whatever I will say it will not change your mind. (it's like with explaining climate change).

Back to D4... actually I have nothing more to say about that, hopefully someone competent is there and they will change core D3 mechanics to something that is not as shitty.

I do.....I just don't always have time to do games a bunch of times to get every skill/every piece of gear/etc.

To me once the credits roll the main game is "done"....leveling up more in new game playthroughs is extra icing on the cake, and I do not always choose to partake.
