Any thoughts on which to go with, sorry, I know it completely subjective. I have played D2 through several times, but not with the ZyEl mod. And I have played TQ a couple of times through, but not with the D2/Lilth mod. Just wondering peoples thoughts before pouring months into one or the other.
I haven't played Diabetic 2 but I have played Titan Quest.
So, I will say try Titan Quest with Diabetic2/Lilith mod .
It was purposed to be Diablo 2.

I've played and heavily recommend the Zy-El mod, however it isn't easy to get into and requires overhead... So...

Thanks both. I will start with Zy-El when I finish Van Helsing then.
Why is it that there's so many Diablo 2 mods, yet only 1 mod (made by 1 guy) for widescreen resolutions? You'd think updating D2 for modern monitors would be THE most important thing.

Because Diablo 2 was set up so it was easy to modify/add stuff (patch.mpq), but modifying the game's executable to change the graphics engine is much harder.
It's similar to asking why there are so many wallpapers and avatars for games, but so few 3d character models with working ragdoll physics.

Yep, totally agree. Its not just extending the draw area, the displayable tile area may not fit due to hard coded limits, or stretching might occur, or as in the case of other games, the interface itself might become so tiny you can barely see it. That's generally the purpose behind recreating the game in a newer engine (as well as to add all the additional fluff like shader's and what not). Plus what size do you aim for, there is quite a variety, personally mine is on 1980x1420 (from memory there, the standard 19xx * 14xx standard), but monitors go up to 4k or maybe more.

A word of warning, as i said it's hard to get into mostly because level 1 is WEAK... you'll be running from everything until you get at least your first poster made. So if you can find someone else who plays Zy-El to either play with you and help you. Took me a week to hit level 30, and when i got my first poster things got a lot easier (But not a cakewalk).

But if you enjoy the hardcore experience, then give it a go without help. There's a few pages that's suggested help for new players.

Real me don't run :o) I have been through BG several times, solo, although wimped out of the poverty run so far. So yes, bring it on!
