Gonchi: I've heard from reliable sources that GOG decide what games to release by consulting a magic 8 ball.
Hehe. They probably just do /roll 20 ;)
Apparently the physical version being sent to Kickstater backers is tied to Steam, despite the devs confirming the game disc would be DRM-Free. I've been trying to contact the devs for months now in regards to the delivery of the physical rewards without reply.

Looks like another dev that gives no fucks.

That's a shame. That Dex game looked pretty cool. :-/
The enhanced edition of Dex launches on Steam as a free update next Monday, October 5th. Looking at Dreadlock's blog and twitter, it's a sizable update. Adding to that, the game will now release on Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PS Vita in 2016, so the developers could well go 'fuck you GOG' for their earlier rejection (which may have been justified back then, Dex started out with a lot of crucial bugs).

I would have bought the game on Humble loooong ago... if there wasn't so much grounds to question its DRM free status there:

I've written an email to the developers asking about DRM free/Humble and possible GOG release (on Monday?!). I don't really expect an answer though, as a four person game studio hasn't exactly the time to answer these questions personally.

Needless to say, I'm scanning GOG's "upcoming" section feverishly, to no avail. :)

The latest post on that thread is on 10 May. According to cyboff's post back in July, the Humble Store version should work correctly.

Ah! Me and my thread scanning abilities. Thanks for the hint.

I'm waiting until Tuesday until I purchase; Humble is practically guaranteed to get the new file later than October 5th.

Last chance for GOG to catch some of that V-money. :)
All right, that was quick. I have my answer from the developers (the CEO, personally), and it could not be more clear cut.

Apparently Dex wasn't just rejected once by GOG, but indeed several times. The developer makes it abundantly clear that Dex will not come to GOG. Not on Monday, not in the future.

Just to make it clear at this point, that doesn't mean that GOG hasn't had good reasons for rejecting Dex. Personally, as a strong critic of the Early Access concept, I'm always asking myself what sales GOG can expect after months if not years of EA-induced Steam exclusivity. And a dev who first uses Kickstarter and THEN uses Early Access for further funds, honestly, I can understand if GOG doesn't jump on every opportunity to support these developers. This is all conjecture, of course. The exact reasons for rejection are shrouded in mystery, and it's professional from both GOG as well as Dreadlocks to keep it that way.

However, I really want this game. Dreadlock expects the full Enhanced Version to land on Humble on Tuesday [update Oct 06th: ooops. Developer says THURSDAY. Hope that's an effing typo]. That will be the day I buy it.

GOG had reasons then. Do they apply now? I.e. if submitted today, can GOG accept it? In the end it's not about whose pride is bigger, but about reaching more users.
The Enhanced Edition is now live on Steam.

Could anyone with the game bought from Humble tell me when they update that darn DRM free version...?

Because Humble sure as hell doesn't signal that anywhere, and it seems like the devs have gone to bed after uploading to Steam at 6AM in the(ir) morning today.

Ahhhh, smerl, I really really don't know. This is a door with seven seals, and we could camp in front of it all month, it still wouldn't open for us.

And although I understand why they keep things secret, it still is as infuriating for me occasionally as it is for you. :(

/edit: god darn. You google "Dex Enhanced Edition", filter for results from the last 24 hours, and what does google give you as the first three results... yup. Guessed it. TORRENTS. Fucking pirates.

All I can tell you is "soon" in GOG's meaning ;) latest version on Humble is still dex_setup1432754264o.exe from 05/27/2015 ... it sucks:(
I can understand rejecting this title at first. But now, there is no excuse. Bring this game here, GOG. It's the sort of game you should be supporting getting to a state that makes you want to bring it here. I want DEX.

Dreadlocks has been asked again today on Kickstarter. It seems like some people have even never downloaded their KS copy from Humble or even key'ed in at Steam, all in hopes it would be released here some day.

Then again, some people are still waiting for an OUYA release...

Thanks for the info! Good to know.
Remember, http://www.gog.com/support/contact

And of course the wishlist: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/dex_cyberpunk_2d_rpg

I'm sending a message because this rejection seems pretty stupid, unless we're missing something.

They mentioned on the steam page the humble store version will get it later this week.

"Will the Humble Store version of Dex receive this update ? Cheers."
"@Ghigi: yes it will, a little bit later this week! "
