No need to mess around with the Steam version. Releasing sometime early 2017 :)

Many yays for this. Time for the 16th replay.
Will I still be able to use the original version?
I don't want to make a new wine port (I don't even know if Revision will be compatible with wine) and I think the original version is already perfect (I don't like changes made by Revision at all).

I love the game to death, but I don't think it is perfect by a long shot. The shifter mod address some of my concerns, but added other stuff I didn't like. I haven't played revision yet, so I don't know what the changes are exactly, but I'm looking forward to figuring it out.

And I assume you'll be able to, it would just be an additional extra content file or something of that sort. If they delete the original we're going to have a problem.

Deus ex is my favourite game and I don't think I want to change anything.
Anyway, Revision change the first cutscenes, the original great soundtrack, raise the perfect balanced difficulty of the original game and change the original great level design.

just watch this video:

What I would like to know is if Revision will be published like on steam (where it is a separate mod) or if they will add it to the original installer... Because if they do the last thing I will be forced to buy it again on steam.

Again, I don't think anybody knows, but it will probably be added as an extra. Like on darksiders warmastered edition for example, except in that case it's the original that became an extra.

My favorite game too, I don't want to get on a "who loves the game more" argument. But, you wouldn't change anything? Really? Not even clunky interface elements like not being able to move a body if it has something on it and your inventory is full? Not even the broken triggers such as during the assault on castle clinton? Or the extremely limited "shopping" mechanic? Or that the lethality of your methods isn't really acknowledged beyond the 3-4 first missions?

DX is, IMO, the best game ever made. But only because nobody refined and improved it, not because it was already perfect.
I nearly jumped off my seat... A new DeusEx getting its first day release also on gog?! Then I realized its a mod for good old DE1. :/

But it does look nice.

No, I think is perfect because there are some flaws.
The "clunky interface" is already good enough (and play really well with mouse and keyboard... while there are many modern games with "not-clunky interface" that suck when you try to play with mouse and keyboard).
even if you need to be carefull with the limited space it still work.
I don't remember broken triggers.
the limited shopping mechanic is ok, you don't need it anyway during the mission.
the fact that the lethality of your methods is not really acknowledged beyond the 3-4 first missions is one of the best thing in the game... if you start lethal the game try to tell you to play stealthy... and in the first part play stealthy is really better...
but reaching a certain level, when ammo began to run low, you will start to notice that is actually really easy to just kill everything in your path and that kill will not be punished.
You will start to play stealthy because you don't want to kill (you don't know if it is right to kill)... not because the game punish you.

DX is the best game ever made because with some flaws it is still the best game I ever played.
There are some bad elements (like dub) that I really like because they are bad.
There are some annoying elements that force you to think and play different style during the game.
Even the stealth is not perfect, because even with a headshot, the AI will still move for some seconds... Every mod try to "fix" that... but I like it and I don't want it to disappear.

darksiders warmastered is different... warmastered is an official edition, not just a mod.

PS. And Revision is not even a good mod. when you change the original cutscene (that is fucking awesome) in DX you don't undestand anything of this game.

Ah, this is great news. I almost thought we'd never see it here. I should really get started on my 5th playthrough before then...

I don't think flaws make the game perfect. At all.

I generally like the interface, it's great that it was made for keyboard+mouse and not controller. I agree with you on that. But it can still be improved. The clear example I brought up is that when you right click an unconscious/dead body, you first get whatevery they are carrying and then you get to move it around. To hide it for instance. However, if the body is carrying a flamethrower, you typically won't have the free inventory space to carry the flamethrower, so you get a "not enough space" message every time you right click. Which means you can't drag the body out of sight. That's not a feature by my book. It's terribly annoying having to drop stuff from the inventory, get the flamethrower, drop it, recover the things you dropped (maybe put them back in the belt too) and finally drag the body to a hiding spot. Shifter "fixes" this by automatically dropping anything the corpse carries that doesn't fit in your inventory in the ground, but I still end up with tons of cigarettes in my inventory that I don't want. That is what I mean by clunky interface, and it's not cool.

You may not remember, but they are there. I can name 3 out of the top of my head right now (assault on castle clinton, the fight in front of the Ton hotel, and Paul's rescue). Trust me, that stuff is not working like it should, I don't want to go deeper because of spoilers but it's there.

Limited shopping mechanic is OK, yes, like many other things. However, it could be better. They had to go with that because of engine limitations, not because that's what they wanted to do.

It's not about killing being punished. Hell, not killing can be the thing you are punished for; or be completely irrelevant to mechanics. I just would like for people to acknowledge the way I play, the way it happens the first few missions, through the entire game. It's like budget run out and they couldn't afford more reactions. To be clear, I'm not talking about XP for non lethal takedowns like on 3/4, takedown XP is bullshit to begin with.

For me, Deus Ex is like the first Hitman: a great idea but still flawed. Hitman franchise reached the apex in Blood Money, but Deus Ex franchise went downhill.

And despite being an official edition, we still keep the original. What makes you think they'll remove the original because of a mod?

And I prefer the second Hitman (silent assassin) to blood money... and there is no source port of deus ex 1 just a mod (still limited by the original engine) so I don't think they can make something less limited, just something different that will feel different from the original game.

If you look at fallout now they give you a copy with some mods already installed... I don't want that on Deus ex 1.
Sounds great, I've been meaning to replay this game albeit with this mod and possibly another mod that was supposed to make more balanced augmentations and skill system.

IS this any different than HDTP and New Vision? I don't understand... Will the shifter mod still work on this?

Thus far it's only supported the Steam version and I only have GOG and CD-ROM, so I'm not sure. The changes are supposed to be quite significant, however. Whenever I hear that I presuppose compatibility is low :(
