Lol, I guess this is the new thing now with AAA publishers :p This is just too damn funny.

Article for more info

Let me say that SE is not the only publisher that has done this.... So what do you guys think? Is this a DRM on top a DRM while pre ordering a DRM? O_o
I used to love Square for releasing one the best JRPG's EVER released like FF4, FF6, FF7, FF8 etc etc Now they are a joke of a company. Can't believe a Jap company sinking this low.

thanks to bringing this to my attention. Well have to admit i'm out of words ^^ . Hate Preorder anyway - especially if it's besides a price discount awards things in-game which other buyers of the game don't get (discount okay, free sound track okish, exclusive mission no no no) - but trying to create some "Hype" out of preorder is just wrong wrong wrong. Hope it backfires drastically
I don't know whether this is worse than retailer exclusive bonuses.
Ah right, I've seen this before with things like tweets and likes and such.
I don't really mind the concept, but the 'rewards' are kind of.. not great.

I don't know about the 4 days earlier Tier. Basically a lot of pre orders will unlock the game earlier xD IF it was like a free copy of a game or something like that then ok but this is a joke.

Look at the likes on that video ;) Publishers these days think that gamers are the most retarded people on earth :s (don't want to offend anyone)

Bad enough that there's an exclusive mission in the CE but offering it that way is even worse.
I really hope they run out of such stupid idea someday.

Indeed, as soon as they revealed the final "FOUR DAYS EARLY" Tier I burst out laughing and immediately closed the video. Absolutely ridiculous, I guess there is no bar low enough for publishers these days to entice and dupe people into pre-ordering their games that are mostly broken on release.

This is aimed at console owners, they know the PC version will get pirated, so just trying to balance the books..

stop drm
srop regonal; pricing
stop region locked games [gifting]

and hey people might buy games..

you need us, more than we need you

The possibilities are endless, and the choice is yours.
I'll wait couple of more years then : )
What's up with the voice from the video? I mean, I guess they wanted some AI robotic voice, but still... sounds like crap.

I don't really care about the rewards and shit, but if I get to pre-order for about 20$ (which is what I payed for DE:HR, and what I just payed for Mad Max), I'm going to go right ahead and get it.
Feels like they gutted out the side missions and customization that should have been included in the first place to get sheeple to flock and buy the game before it's released:
Do you want outfit 1/2/3?
Do you want DLC mission A or DLC mission B?

I bet 2 months after release they will sell all the DLCs for the "LOW price of $4.99" a piece.

Also, how is this the ultimate personal Deus Ex experience? What if my ultimate experience is having everything included from the get-go? Even if you wrap crap in a pretty package with ribbons and a nice thank you card, it's still crap.

On a lighter note, this idiocy reminded me of a video someone posted on the original Deus Ex (if it were made today):

Good, will wait until the GOTY is $5. And then pirate the bonus mission just in spite if it won't be included. Fu SE. And i was looking forward to this game.

Elmofongo: I don't know whether this is worse than retailer exclusive bonuses.
It is better insofar as you can get all the bonus stuff you want instead of having to settle for one bonus pack or having to buy multiple editions.

It's however still the same preorder shit that no one should go for (Seriously, don't preorder, people! It hurts us all!) and turning it into this hypety-hype, unlock-tiers, get-others-to-preorder-too-to-unlock-more-goodies meta game is a disgusting move.

Unfortunately it is too much to hope that this preorder in particular as well as preordering in general will ever blow up into the publishers' faces...

You can have that too if you fork over $149,99 for the collector's edition.

Special emphasis on the fork over, because preordering makes sure that you get "forked over"...

I saw TotalBiscuit having a quick complaint about this.

I really do think that the tiered pre-order stuff is utter BS. Pre-orders on the whole are not really bad, just poor practice. The game should be there to take away / download when we place our money. Yet at least with shops there was a reason, they knew how many copies were to be sold day one and could order in more to fill the shelves.
This just feels like gutting the end-user for a quick profit. The pre-order incentives here and the undefined one off contracts in Hitmans "living world" make me wonder what the hell SE is up too with its new games.

Lucky for me DE:HR made me motion sick with the constant in and out of the guys head. So I could not finish the game, and therefore have no reason to play this anyway. Kind of sad though, I really enjoyed the first two Deus Ex games.
I like the idea but it would only be interesting if the bonuses were something worth having.
