Back in the saddle.

Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, the tactical gunslinging classic, has recently received an update that brings new content plus several convenient improvements. Here's the rundown:

- Help Cooper, Doc, and Kate save a town from outlaw scumbags in a new mission designed to be the game's demo.
- The game's core technology has been updated to work well on systems running Win 7/8/10.
- Mac and Linux support added!
- Additional language options added: English, French, German, Spanish (both for the demo and main game), Italian, Russian (main game only)

Both Desperados games are now 80% off until July 16th, 5pm UTC. If you haven't tried them yet, go ahead and give them a shot. Or two.
shouldnt this "runs on modern machines" stuff be the case on gog anyways ?

Spoil sport. ;-)
OMG YES. Been waiting to play this again for so long but the near constant crashes on my old laptop plus the Win10 issues on the new one made it impossible. Dowloading now.

Thanks GOG

lol yeah sorry for crashing the party

would be awesome if commandos gets a little bit of love too !
Thanks for this, GOG! Looking forward to playing that demo level again.

To the people wondering about getting this: it's an atrociously difficult game, but immensely satisfying when you finally get the hang of it. Just don't expect to be able to go in guns blazing: it's very much designed for stealth play, along with lots of save-scumming and quickloads. You have to get really familiar with all the characters and their skills, as well as the ability to set up multiple actions at the same time.
I am so happy.
Great!

I don't think it's as challenging as Commandos 1.

It wasn't even close.

"Fall of the Butcher" was borderline IMPOSSIBLE.

That's a very hard mission, when I first played Commandos in the late 1990s I skipped it with cheat codes because it was just too nerve-wracking, having to completely avoid the alarm.
I replayed Commandos a few years ago, and managed to beat it then (also managed to stay undetected in the Normandy mission which I hadn't managed to do before either). But yes, Commandos 1 was very challenging, in a good way.

One problem is that "modern machines" is always a moving target, along with the OSes that run on them.

Haven't played the game but maybe I should reward the effort by purchasing a copy or two. I found Commandos to be an interesting puzzle game (yes, I consider it to be in the Puzzle genre) and might enjoy this one, too.

DubConqueror: I'm stupid. Saw a message on internet the game got an update to make the game run on modern systems, with a link to the steam version. As it was just 99 cents, I bought it - but I totally forgot to check if the game's on GOG as well. 99 cents wasted on Steam :-(
You can get a refund from Steam,if you have played it for less than 2 hours.
