sunshinecorp: GOG curation is shit anyway. It isn't one of the strong points of this shop, it's one of its weak ones. They reject way too many good games (some make it here in the end, but it takes quite a while and a lot of complaining first) and they have accepted a lot of crap too (probably because of large publishers). I still can't believe Nelly Cootalot isn't here, for instance. Or that Larry Magna Cum Laude is here.

fortune_p_dawg: magna cum laude DOES suck, but its part of a series and it always blows to have a piece missing. that said, i quite like gog's curation policy, as i definitely wouldn't want to see this place become another desura.
it sux bigtime, its a horrible beast among the games....

Hello gamesfreak64,

Yes, I'm sorry about this but I have no control over the Steam version acting like that. The software I use (Game Maker Studio) only produces such an executable for Steam. (otherwise there's no support for the Steam achievements, cloud...) Actually I'm glad you found a way!

I don't recall saying the Steam version could be ran without Steam, I just said there would be DRM free versions of the game.
The DRM Free versions of the game that you can find on itch.io, Humble, Indie Game Stand and other sites are 100% DRM Free. Again, this is not me but Game Maker Studio doing that, and I have to build the game twice (one for Steam, one DRM free) each time there's a new version...

Besides that, the game has a 73% metacritic currently out of 10 reviews, so even if not absolutely excellent, it's better than many games on GoG I believe :) (and the few negative reviews are always from people who just didn't like the "special" humor in it - the game was always meant to be different and not everyone will like that humor)

its solved i moved the api to another folder.
As for yes or no protection, some devs told me that the developer can choose to have a form of client needed to run,
sometimes you move the api dll and sometimes the game works, sometimes it wont, you game runs a charm after i moved the api to another folder so things are okay.
Thanks for making this great game, if GoG might get this game i will get it here aswell.

Can't find it on Humble... is it there yet?

Unfortunately no, it's not on the Humble Store :( They've refused it too, and like GoG, they gave me a basic reply with no indication why they didn't accept it :

Hi there,

Thanks so much for your interest in the Humble Store.

Due to our limited resources, we will not be able to add Demetrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure to the Humble Store at this time. Should something change, and we're able to add your game to the Humble Store, we'll be in touch.

Thanks again, and please feel free to contact us about any future projects!

Best,
Worse than that, I had to insist through their support to get this reply, because 2 months after submitting it, I still had no answer.

It really sucks to have a game with good reviews but I don't know why it's being refused on some stores. :/

Anyway, even if it's not on their store, you can get it via Humble Widget, through my site :
http://www.demetriosgame.com/en/order/

This is what I meant by "Humble", the widget.

Demetrios has been updated with a MAJOR change : a "toilet humor" option! :D I know a few people didn't like this aspect of the game, so hopefully you can enjoy this adventure better!

Does this make it the first adventure game in history with that kind of choice?!

This also includes a new music track in Nogo (I know the soundtrack could be a little repetitive with only 2 tracks there), a full Russian translation, and a few minor fixes.

To celebrate this, Demetrios is 25% off this week only!

You can get the DRM Free version on itch.io : https://cowcat.itch.io/demetrios

GoG may have turned it down, but Sony didn't!

Demetrios will release on PlayStation Vita next week :) I'm glad that it has definitely picked the interest of the Vita players!

IFW: Excellent news, congratulations :)
Thank you :)

I had to push back the release unfortunately, due to some last minute bugs found by reviewers. These have been patched, and release if now set for December 6th :)
It's now available on PlayStation Vita!

Making this game for PS Vita was a ton of hard work (especially for a one-man "team" like myself!), but it was worth it :)

So time for a PS4 release now ;)
Just stumbled over this accidentally on steam. Then I played the demo and liked it (especially the search for cookies game, the in game achievements and the artstyle) and then I remembered: The devs from Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure, a game I backed a while ago, had a shout out of Demetrios during their own Kickstarter. So I now decided to buy it. It's a shame that GOG rejected it because technically (according to the demo at least) I cannot see any reason why this game should not "fit" the GOG catalogue. Sometimes people simply decide wrong. I can also understand that you would like to have an explanation to know if you should change things in the future or not - quite unfair from GOG to not give that to you, I agree.

But if GOG does not want to sell your game I will buy it on Indie Game Stand instead. I am quite sure I will enjoy it and I will tell others as well. Thank you for all the effort you obviously put into the game and in the communicaztion with potential buyers.
Well, I know Demetrios isn't perfect and some people don't like the humor and the characters. It's quite subjective but I can understand that.

Although Demetrios has been accepted for release on two more consoles!!! :D I can't announce which yet but you can take a guess!

I'm also working on a whole new game now and I'm pretty sure it will be better received :) It's very unique and quite ambitious, it will take at least 3 years to make. This will keep things that worked well for Demetrios (except humor, it will be much more serious) while improving on every other aspect.

Hopefully this one will get on GoG!

Just for your information... Demetrios has released this week on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles :)

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/demetrios-the-big-cynical-adventure/cid=UP1778-CUSA08499_00-DEMETRIOS0000000

Now I can focus on my next project, I'll keep you informed!
Well, better late than never!

2 years after release, I'm pleased to announce that Demetrios is finally on Humble Store! (and also upcoming on Nintendo Switch)
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/demetrios-the-big-cynical-adventure

So if you're interested in a DRM Free version, at least you've got another option.

This means GOG is now the *ONLY* store to refuse the game.
Maybe someday? I've spent two years working on a new game and making sure they can't pass on that one :p
