karnak1: Strange how the game sold so much better on steam than GOG. I could be wrong, but something doesn't add up.
I never imagined steam being a good platform for selling "old-style" games. In fact every person I know who has steam accounts has no interest in retrogaming whatsoever.

Could these steam sales be folks who backed the kickstarter and got steam keys or something?

And people using a Nintendo console to play old-school adventure games??
You seem to be forgetting that Steam has so many customers that even the minority who are interested in retro adventure games is probably more than GOG's entire customer base. Same for the Switch and I see quite a lot of adventure games on the shop there so there's clearly a market.

Never imagined Switch players playing this type of game, though. Times do change.

Panaias: I think point 'n click adventures fit naturally into the Switch as a console mostly due to the touch screen.
I do not own a Switch, but if I had one I would definitely get some point 'n click adventures just to see how they feel on the platform.
Well, in that case they're not really "point 'n click" games but rather "touch" games, but you get the point.
Unfortunately, because the touch screen is only usable in handheld the controls are horrendous when connected to a TV. I bought a couple of adventures on the Switch as an experiment, but they're definitely "handheld only" because of the controller issue. If I'm going to play handheld I'd be better off playing on my android tablet because it has a bigger screen...

GOG having at least 20% of Steam's sales is twice as much as I would have expected, actually. If that's at all representative of typical sales, GOG's doing better than I thought.

tremere110: Invite only? Are creators suddenly not able to submit DLCs to Gog? Creators should be able to submit their stuff - it just requires Gog approval. Not sure why a free add-on would be any different.
Maybe "it's too niche"? A.K.A. the canceration department have to check and allow it, before the developer can do anything at all?

Overall, I would wager heavily that the vast majority of GOG users are also Steam users, and for a good proportion of those who use both, they mostly/only buy games on GOG that are exclusive to GOG (if only for the moment), or in cases where they've heard the GOG version is better somehow. I'm guessing neither of these was ever the case for Thimbleweed Park.

Edit before posting: Delores coming to GOG
Delores, the hot new game all the kids are playing will be on GOG in a few short days. Put down those pitch forks and put away those vats of tar.

Wonderful news. ( :
Yes, yes and more yes! Not only we will have this free mini-game here. It also means GOG is still under Ron's radar, so we can expect future games of his to arrive. After all, the purpose of this was to show off "Dinky", his new engine developed for point-and-click adventure games.

karnak1: Could these steam sales be folks who backed the kickstarter and got steam keys or something?

.
Ron stated that free KS keys aren't shown in the Steam figure, just as Humble Steam keys aren't shown in it. They are all direct sales.

The most interesting thing about the chart really is Nintendo Switch. TP has done insanely well there.
I wish this mini adventure opens the way to have hopes in a one more game of the scale of Thimbleweed Park.

Because Is there something Thimbleweed does wrong?

It is extremely fun, runs great, great writing, great voice acting, great sense of humor, apparently one of the longest adventures of the lasts times, It is campy, open adventure not very common today, high quality values in a retro look that does not take too seriously itself but that offers a graphic adventure that can compete with the old games it tributes to. And in the difficulty side it does not fail in making it too easy or uninteresting. The game flows very well and the tribute to old games, and films etc, offers a very atractive look, and mood and ambience.

I have not tried Delores, probably I will wait for the GOG version to be more comfortable. Has anyone tried the game? any opinions about the new engine?

Greetings

Ah yes I saw this game featured on steam
It looks good
A week later, and still waiting for Delores to be added to GOG. ) :

Why the delay?

Come on GOG, why won't you bring Delores on board?

) ;
We know from Ron Gilbert that Delores will be here. Not much point on delaying a game that is already free on other stores. I hope they are not waiting for the summer sale or something like that.

This isn't an isolated incident. GOG sells Broforce, but they haven't made the free spinoff The Expendabros available. GOG sells Kero Blaster, but they haven't made the free spinoffs Pink Hour and Pink Heaven available. GOG sells Samorost 2 & 3, but they haven't made the free original Samorost available, even though there's an installer version in existence. GOG sells Simulacra 1 & 2, but they haven't made the free spinoff Simulacra: Pipe Dreams available. GOG sells Undertale, but they haven't made the free sequel Deltarune: Chapter 1 available.

It couldn't hurt to vote for them:

One thing to be aware of if you're not already is this is a Windows 10-only game - It's a testbed for Ron's new engine which, for some reason, he decided to do in DX12 so if you're sticking with Win7 like me you're unlikely to be able to ever play it, although he's just released the source so I guess there is a possibility it and Linux support may happen in the future.
