Xeshra: No clue whats going on. GOG currently got over 10 000 games, according to the newest search results; this is without much doubt the biggest amount they ever had. Most likely, the only one who got even more, on PC, is... we all know the name: Steam.
Yes, Steam got about 10 times as much but 90% of those games they got "to much" are nothing different than trash... to call it out loud, so everyone can see and hear it. There are simply so many people there, even the biggest junk may still find a few buyers... just to spell out the brutal truth. They basically got 10 times more games and not 10 times more trash, nope... 100 times more trash. On GOG most of those can not even become sold, it just does not generate sufficient coins.
EGS on the other hand got less than 1/3 of the amount GOG got, and it does not look better on other PC game stores.
Sure, Steam is a monopoly, this is the proper name. But it does not mean it is necessarily "better", this totally depends on the gamers and their needs.
Not sure how many games Sony got on PSN. but i guess it is around 10 000 so far, and Nintendo should hit around 5000.
MS store got about 2000 "
real games", yet, perhaps a entire ocean of "trash-app-games for mobile"... i know there are many lovers of those mobile-app games, i am glad it is not me (else i may need to visit a doctor),
Sorry for the strong language, i just think sometimes it is time to get real.
In my experience, even with a very tolerant taste which will take into account almost any genre, there are barely more than 1000 awesome games and perhaps another 1000 great or at least very solid games, not much more. I would say in total i already own about half of the awesome/great games; so i am actually happy with the current results.
When you hit'' hide dlcs and extras '' you cut that number nearly in half given you end up with then '' 6573 '' games and its safe to minus about 80 or so more at the very least given on gog bundled games and different editions of games are shown as seperate game listings
