Hey all, I need to bring everyone's least favorite news:

Age of Civilizations II will leave the store on November 8th, 6 PM UTC due to publisher's decision.

There will be no last-minute discount.

Important disclaimer: the number of delistings lately increased, as you've for sure noticed, but please don't be alarmed – this is something expected from Q4 of any year. The reason you might think that more games are leaving now than "usually" is that we are making sure that you can hear loud and clear about it each time, so you can grab them before it happens and keep them safe in your library. While those are always sad news, there's no reason for doomsaying.

And I very much thank you for this extra service.
I don't think many other stores would bother to announce delistings.

Thank you for delisting a game that wasn't updated on Gog since 2019 .

I hope you will do the same when developers are ignoring the negative comments from the angry Gog community .

That makes sense and I'd say we're all grateful for the warnings. Honesty is good.

I remember trying to contact the dev about this (around 2021), but never got an answer.
The missing updates added not only fixes but content.
And that's a shame because the game was simple fun, but I won't buy a game from this dev again, unless I see real improvements in the long-term if he comes back on gog.

Small note for people looking for informations about the game, it has changed its name on other platforms ("Age of History II"). Yes, the dev didn't even bothered actualizing the name here.

At least it's not an overpriced game at full price!

But be warned that it's considered a bad mobile game port. I haven't tried it myself...

We can make an educated guess that it's because he got a letter from someone saying that it's too similar to Sid Meier's Civilization.

The same thing happened with Civilization: Call to Power, when its sequel was called simply Call to Power II.

Just wanna note that I have been pointing out the recent increase in delisting announcements more so out of legitimate concern. I'm not trying to spread FUD or be a doomsayer....at least not intentionally. That said, it seems that the amount of delistings industry wide(gog/steam/zoom) is on a major upswing. We are now seeing at least one every week, and it makes me wonder which game(s) on which store(s) will be next. That aside, I put the blame more so and squarely on the shoulders of rights holders.

Went to check the reviews about the game and what stood out to me was the amount of low effort/fake/useless reviews this game has.

That it is....if it didn't smell more like copypasted "fact checking" i'd likely be a bit less worried than I am now.

Didn't the one dev who was trying to make a game called Scrolls get similar legal action taken against them?

Your damage control won't work, gog.....no matter how many retaliatory bans you issue *chews popcorn*

Yeah I had noticed. But I get that GOG can't help it when crappy publishers/devs with crappy licensing deals have to pull titles.

Perhaps gog should think about putting said games on the store in the first place re: the more shitty devs/pubs.
