Does anyone know why GOG doesn't offer the option for users to delete your own games from your library? I was under the impression that GOG prides itself on giving you more control over your games, yet they don't even give you the option to remove you own games. It's sort of like buying something from your local shop and the clerk says to you "remember, you can't throw that away once you buy it". There's no excuse for this on GOG's part, this should be a built in feature by now.

The reason why this bothers me so much is because whenever I have to reinstall my games on a new PC, I am forced to sift through an endless barrage of garbage in my library in order to install the games that I actually want to play. I can't help feeling that this is completely unacceptable on GOG's part. PLEASE GIVE US THE OPTION TO DELETE OUR GAMES!

Seriously, whats going on? Just HIDE the games you do not enjoy, finish story.

It would be way to troublesome with an "delete option" due to many reasons... as it will leave the door open for many issues that can be prevented just by hiding it.

No, not the end of the story. Hiding the games does absolutely nothing to fix the problem. Literally every single front end, or game launcher still shows the hidden games when installing your library on a new PC (or new OS). This forces you to sort through a stack of games you couldn't care less about, just to put together your library. There's literally no reason why GOG shouldn't give us the option. It costs them nothing. Hiding your games is the equivalent of sweeping the dust under the rug.

I know why. It's because CDPR/GOG upper management refuses to reinvest any resources back into updating the GOG store. They'd rather use all of its precious revenue to keep tons of people that don't have an immediate, tangible effect on customers besides graphics design and support.

Everyone's been asking for basic modern features like this for years. Steam's already a successful blueprint so far ahead of the game. They just have to follow it besides the DRM part, which confounds me even more because DRM implementation part requires even less work from GOG's part.

There can be a verification process if you're worried about that (forced two factor authentication). Problem solved.

The account does make a distinction between hidden and non hidden games. In this term there is a failure taking over this spec. Unfortunately i can not help you here, because i never used any launcher. As far as i can detect, not even on the "apparently supreme Steam" you can just delete your games from your library... you can as well just "hide it". It is simply more secure and less hassle, due to many reasons. Many failures could happen... foreign failures or even self inflicted failures... and the amount of work will increase drastically as soon as some issues are happening by this "option". Just not worth it to bother with if "hide" is just as effective without those risks.

Nope, you can absolutely delete your games from Steam. They actually let you do it fairly easily.

If someone is already in your account this means he is past your two factor authentication already and he can just disable it from there... This is very likely the number one reason why they do not allow it though. I was also thinking not long about possibly deleting a game but I can see why this option is not allowed.

Ah yes? And how? Is there some red "elimination button" so you can wipe it from your account by a "mighty click"?

You really cannot do that permamently... You can easly restore the game the same way. It is just a better hiding function..

This is a lousy excuse for depriving us of this feature. There are various ways to get around this problem, such as a separate two factor authentication, or even having the ability to re-add the games to your library (through a contact form). But the likelyhood of that even happening in the first place are slim to none. I would gladly risk this happening to have the feature.

Simply ask for 2FA (QR code, text, or email) + password for each item you want to delete. This helps solve 99% scenarios where most people simply want to remove a game from their library. Then as a backup, GOG should design the system so that if someone wants to recover their games again, Support can go in and validate receipts and bring them back as needed.

You guys are worrying about the very small minority of scenarios that do not happen on a regular basis when deleting games. Good critical thinking skills if you guys work in crisis management for once-in-a-hundred-years kind of scenarios, but not relevant for this scope request.

You know, the support is already totally overloaded... they surely are not interested to put even more strain on themself for something that seems doable in "another way".
