UPDATE: Heads up! There are 24h left, so now is the time to take advantage of the amazing deals and upgrade your collections. Eyes on the price, Boo, eyes on the price!

Years ago, the Baldur's Gate series changed the way we look at gaming and the scope of what was considered possible. Even now, the legacy continues through the Enhanced Editions – thanks to the hard work and years of updates to keep the inimitable Infinity Engine living on.

It's the work on the Enhanced Editions that made Siege of Dragonspear possible – the just-released, massive expansion to the timeless classic, available only for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"The team at Beamdog was able to breathe a new life into the Infinity Engine classics." says Greg Tito, Communications Director for Dungeons & Dragons "We're proud to recognize their excellent work in offering the best possible experience and support for these legendary titles. We want these to become the definitive editions – featuring both the enhanced and classic versions of the games."

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected.

"We're excited to take our commitment and support to Baldur's Gate and GOG fans to the next level and humbled to work with such great partners. The Definitive Edition Bundle will give every Baldur's Gate fan what they're looking for" – concludes Cameron Tofer, Beamdog COO.

In the near future, we're also looking forward to full GOG Galaxy support for achievements in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – as well as in the Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be 75% off until April 4 11:59 PM PDT / April 5 2:59 AM EDT/ 7:59 BST and 60% off until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 60% discount for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 85% discount for owners of the original saga will last until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST.

Oh please GoG, don't tempt me with such a noticeable BG discount:)
I have original games ... but ... but ....

Maxvorstadt: Well, I don`t need the old original versions, the enhanced versions are way better.
Just because you think that doesn't mean everybody does. It's about people having the chance to choose what they want.

And I feel preserving the original versions is important either way.

I don't even WANT them (AND own the originals here) and even I'm shaking right now.

Well played GoG, well played.

Good thing I'm already buried in games or I actually might break down and grab one (?).
All right Beamdog, you win this time. For $3 each, I can accept trying out your heathen diabolical bastardisations of the best games in the universe.

sunshinecorp: It is, and apparently a lot of people HATE the new interface and the changes in graphics. So... Better archive that older version. :)

eiii: I'm confused now. So is what you can download from GOG at the moment still the old, achievement free version or not?
Yes. It's still the old version.

You never heard it not a word of it.

Well, this is unpleasant. The part about the originals no longer available for purchase separately, I mean.

Wonder if at that point the prices of the EEs will also rise on account of this bundling, making for even more of a win for rights holders and even more shafting for those who may be interested just in the originals.

Thanks! Otherwise I had hurried for nothing. :)

I don't have the bandwidth right now or I'd be backing this version up already. I don't like the comments on 2.0 (though it also comes with a lot of bugfixes, I don't know...) at all.

Grargar: Well, if you want the newly-released expansion, Baldur's Gate 1 Enhanced Edition doesn't become not-that-necessary anymore.
You assume that the DLC will amount to anything above a piece of shit. Given the sample of their handiwork in the enhanced editions I wouldn't hold my breath.

I still hold it against them for screwing the modding scene. As the wise peeps have been saying all along, so it has been done. And now they want to bundle the originals with the ee's, effectively burying them. Fucking cunts, I say.

As you just said, it`s my opinion. Others may want the originals and that`s fine.

We will see. But better having a copy of the old version just in case. I hate the trend to make even single player games more and more different dependent on the store you buy them by integrating store specific functionality.
What happens if I buy a giftable code for one of the original games ? Can I still gift it as such after the day they're bundled together with the "enhanced" versions ?

It`s the new, updated, installer, version 2.0.6.2

More than likely, yes.
