Someone using that term always takes me back to the 80s where that term was more widely used.

Breja: I have not played a hack'n'slash for something like 4 or 5 years, I was pretty sure I'm done with the genre. I fired up Van Helsing recently just because I'm trying to burn though my backlog, and I ended up enjoying it immensly. Except maybe for the tower defense part, and the fact it could use a bit more colorful environments. Still, it's nice to sort of rediscover the genre. I guess I just need a long break from it.

tinyE: I'm holding off because I only own the Final Cut on Steam and I'm hoping Connect helps me out, though I doubt it.
The Van Helsing games already have been in GOG connect so I do really hope they return if you missed it back then.
And ofcourse welcome to GOG Ocular I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I do.

tinyE: Diablo 2 is my favorite game ever.
If you like those, then I would recommend (and I'm sure you've probably heard of these):

Grim Dawn
Titan Quest
Torchlight 1 & 2 (those are a but on the cartoony side but still great)
Van Helsing
Victor Vran

I had a great time with Van Helsing too. Especially discovering all these neat secrets!
Welcome to GOG & have a nice play :) If you ever want to talk about adventure games (or anything else) feel free to PM me!
Thanks everyone. was not expecting this many replys, awesome the community seems great so far. I'll give the Van Helsing games a try for sure. What's the replay value like on them and which is your favourite? That's probably the only Diablo like game I havn't tried so far.

Your name and avatar seem to indicate it. It's of course none of my business. :P

Ocular.: I'm mostly into RPG games like Diablo.
While they are not exactly Diablo-like RPGs, you might want to try the Divinity: Original Sin series as well, especially if you have someone you can play them with in co-op.
Since it's here on gog and free you might try beneath a steel sky. If you are into it.

pkk234: I read that the Metro series are very similar and good as well
I haven't played the Metro series myself, but supposedly they're much more linear and reliant on scripted events than the Stalker games. They seem to be rather traditional shooters.
Call of Pripyat is pretty great though, but one should be aware it's a bit different from the first two games. More focus on exploration and quests. Combat is mostly against mutants, to a much lesser degree against human enemies than in the previous games. But if one liked Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear sky, one should enjoy it as well.

The Metro games are FPS, pure and simple.

They are very hard, very good, very unique FPS, but they are FPS.

Ocular.: So far I'm really liking it, bought my first GOG game (Stalker Chernobyl) any other great games I should get? Also have no friends yet. :)
bad decision, just look through the forum, there are tons of threads bout all the gog exclusive pain-in-the-ass-problems that come along with a game purchase. just buy your games elsewhere. gog and all its great principles died a long time ago, nowdays its just a very bad steam-abomination.

I have to shill for Pajama Sam, but tbh if you don't like adventure games aimed at kids you won't like these. ;)

Do you have kids? GOG has some fantastic games you could play with them.

...Huh? I don't know that the term ever became less widely used (in English, anyway). What on earth would one call them if not "video games"?

You know, you're not really making yourself seem less like a stalker, here. ;)
