However, I must admit I've always preferred Irish and *ahem*Bourbon*cough* to Scotch. Don't know why, but Scotch always seems a little too sweet for my palate.
I have appreciation for the complexities of your Speysides and Islays. I've spent a few grand on Taliskers and Glenfiddiches and Aberlours and Ardbegs - mostly as gifts for my brother, but I've tried a bunch of 'em. But for me, I'll take an easy-drinking whisky. Crown Royal; Blue Label; Yamazaki 18 or Hibiki 17.
Now, excuse me. I have to dodge angry (and empty) whisky glasses for a bit.
EDIT: Oh, and if you like bourbon and haven't tried Blanton's Single Barrel, you might want to add it to your "someday" list. It's a very good bourbon.
