So, for anyone else wanting info, I guess a thread for stuff may help ;)

First, the bad news....

Confirmed, DarkSouls3 is just another lazy attempt...

"Still controller overlay when playing with mouse & keyboard. Bandai Namco states that this won't change."

There were articles and sources suggesting that this game is gonna have a decent PC port?
Eh, I wouldn't go as far as to decry the whole thing as lazy because of that one thing.

And if you're playing Dark Souls with mouse and keyboard, you're kinda doing it wrong anyway.

Skyrim says hello.

But than again Skyrim does not incorporate rolling. (Does it?)

Skyrim is in first person, and has a vastly different control scheme.

Edit: Beaten like a new Dark Souls player.

Funny thing is, the people trying to play games such as Dark Souls on keyboard are probably the same who complain about others playing their FPS games with a gamepad. There's a time and place for mouse & keyboard, but in most 3rd person games, especially those requiring precise and/or quick character movements, it generally sucks.
Only the first game was a terrible port, the second one was much better.

But those are games meant to be played with a gamepad, I don't see what's so shocking about that. You don't see FPS fans demanding that those games be made just as easy to play with a gamepad as with keyboard&mouse, do you? I really don't know why PC gamers always rage about "shoddy ports" whenever a game is best played with a gamepad.

And before someone accuses me of being a console fanboy, I've been playing pretty much exclusively on the PC for a long time, long enough to remember that I played lots of early PC games with a joystick, and that there's no reason why it should be mandatory for PC games to be optimized for a keyboard&mouse control scheme.

Yeah, that train of thought that gamepad = console and PC = ( exclusively ) M&KB is so absurd. What works best depends on the game genre, not the platform you're playing on. Besides, PC has always supported a wide range of input devices, much more than any console ever did.

By the way, I checked out the linked article, and they actually talk quite positively about the game. Good performance, and both types of input seem to work well, even if gamepads are ( as expected ) more suitable.

Ahem :P
You can, but it's not a major gameplay mechanic

The menus control like shit no matter whether you play with kb+m or gamepad, though. Admittedly the actual gameplay works great with either configuration.

According to the most recent comments it has stopped working since the last update of Skyrim or something.
Never understood the appeal of Dark Souls, when I bought it (PC version) I thought the difficulty was in engaging and rewarding combat but the thruth is that It's an ordinary buttonmasher where the whole difficulty is controlling the camera which is just bonkers IMO.
To top it of the PC version is so broken, either with a gamepad or keyboard it controls horrible, even with mods.

Meh, I'll just keep playing Blade of Darkness instead.

No offence, but if you just mash buttons in Dark Soul, you're going to die really fast. And the controls with a gamepad are fine imo, except for jumping which sucks in both games. I really hope they improved that this time around.
