Geddes17: It seems that's partly the fault of Groupees and partly that of the comic publishers. Since the Dynamite bundles still include many CBZ files, obviously the other companies could also include them but choose not to. Until a few months ago someone from Groupees converted the PDF into CBZ files on his own so it made no real difference to customers - but unfortunately that guy isn't at Groupees anymore and there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to do what he did ...
I believe it's mostly Groupees' fault - even the Dynamite bundle is missing some CBZ files and as you wrote - they can covert the PDFs to CBZ, but just prefer not to do it.

I finally found the time to take a closer look at that big BOOM! Studios bundle at Groupees - and it's actually a pretty good bundle, better than I initiaily thought. Granted, the first tiers are rather bad with mostly (incomplete) repeats from earlier Humble Bundles but the higher tiers have some good looking content, including many complete miniseries/series. Now, if they would offer additional CBZ files I'm pretty sure I would pay the $30, but without those I'm torn ... Maybe better to wait for another Humble Bundle (the two I bought included CBZ files, but the last one is from 2015 so I don't know about the newer ones)?

Every comics bundle from HB I've bought this year has had CBZ files. Unfortunately, their manga ones looked absolutely horrendous. Probably because manga uses more vector images than comics and they need to be downsampled to look good.
I wrote and asked Groupees about the lack of CBZs and got the following reply:

"This has come to our attention. A recent change in staff means that no one is converting them anymore, so we rely on the publishers to give us CBZs. If they don't, we can't provide them."

So it seems that they aren't bothered with people not purchasing content due to lack of CBZ format, or at least not enough to put resources into adding the format themselves.

Good to know, thanks. In previous years there have been some Humble Bundles without CBZ files (eg. one "Doctor Who" bundle) but it seems those were exceptions.
An "Inverse press comics bundle" is soon to appear in Groupees. They also specified this one will have CBZs.

https://groupees.com/inverse

Thing is, doesn't seem like my kind of stuff. too bad they don't add CBZs to the rest of the bundles.

Well at least we know this won't have as many repeats. Though there are 5 confirmed repeats (though all have been from bundles at least 2 years old).

Looks good to me, and I doubt Humble will get these comics

Inverse press bundle live. I know there are those 5 repeats (though one repeat is only a partial one) from Groupees, but what about from elsewhere.
About that BOOM! Studios bundle again: Someone in the Groupees chat bought it and says that the quality of the omnibuses in it is rather bad. So beware if you're like me and those omnibuses are your main reason to consider buying ...

Yeah, that was me. Somebody else found out that the EPUBs are better quality so I just extracted the images from there and compressed it into a CBZ file. The EPUB was 10 times the size of the PDF for all the 3 omnibuses. The rest of the comics had high quality PDFs.

Ah, thanks. Although that puts me in the original place where I'm totally undecided if I should buy the bundle or not ... *sigh*

#1-35 of "Deadly Class" (which seems still to be ongoing). Only #1-6 have been bundled before.

Seems like Boom is trying to follow the path of dynamite and valiant and others:
Holly @ BOOM!United States14:20

Hey y'all! I'm BOOM!'s digital content coordinator, and I just wanted to let you all know to totally drop me an email at digital@boom-studios.com if you have any questions or suggestions. This is our first time doing a bundle with Groupees, and I'd definitely like to find ways to make future bundles better! For this one, I focused a lot on getting titles that we haven't put in other bundles in order to give y'all a strong sampling of our content across imprints, but I'd love to help... Anyway, thanks to all who reached out. I'm working on getting CBZs converted for the bundle. Happy New Year!

so besides not have cbz, how is the Boom bundle content wise?

Does anybody read comics on a tablet? If yes, what reader do you use? I'd like to buy some of the Lobo comics that I missed over the years (or even try the new Lobo comics).

I use Perfect Viewer :-)

But If you are going to buy comics in a e-shop, they usually have their own reader (Comixology, Dark Horse, etc.)
