Geddes17: Oh, wow. Thank you very much, I'll print that out! I never realized "Vol. 1" alone consists of 80 issues. Since the bundled ones I own "only" reach until #40 I guess I'll wait for future bundles so I can "bingeread" the complete Volume ... :-)
Aye, although keep an eye on comixology. They've got the omnibus and volume editions and their own bundled version of all the issues and sometimes they go on sales. I got the bundle they do which is all 80 issues a while back when it was on discount.
Bundles of course give you the PDFs; and volumes/omnibus cut down the amount of individual items; but issues are good too. Same story so you won't miss out however you approach it.
But yeah in general the volume editions of series 1,2 and 3 are the only strict long term story lines; the rest are short collections and one-stand adventures and once you're through the first volume you'll have an understanding of her. Actually if you can read up to issue 40 or so that will tell you most of what you need to know about her as a character as that's her prime story line that Dynamite did (they stopped around issue 49 or so for a while, which is when they started their Queen series but then picked up the original volume again and continued up to issue 80).
Like I say she's a very forgiving character time-line wise. Some others like Witchblade are much more intertwined and comiplicated (I'm kind of waiting for more bundles and deals on witchblade to collect more of it - along with Darkness and that whole world so that I can go through it in order in one big go of story)(
