DCT: Love them, shame Dead Alive is out of print now as someone stole my old DVD, Still have Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles through
avatar
InfraSuperman: Dead Alive is actually one of those movies that are outright banned in Germany; and I only managed to get my hands on an uncut VHS tape of the film. There is a freely availabe version on DVD, but that one is missing- among many, many other parts- the entirety of the lawnmower scene, which is even mocked by the description on the back of the box of that release.
Damn, keep forgetting about the censorship laws in other countries like the infamous Video Nasties list in the UK.
If you like trash movies, you should definitely watch most of the stuff that Fred Olen Ray directed and produced. Many of his movies are hilarious and highly entertaining.

And of course the stuff from Troma is a must-see.

DCT: But yeah lately I been on a bit of a Blaxploitation kick with films like

Dr. Black and Mr. Hyde https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6lztwNQLDY
Blackenstein the Black Frankenstein, Sugar Hill, Dolemite, Disco Godfather, Super Fly and I just ordered Boss aka Boss N***** which is a Blaxsploitation Spaghetti Western https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWDTw7IjeiI and Supersoul Brother which is a Blaxsploitation send up of the 6 million dollar man.

But nothing will top the pure weirdness of Welcome Home, Brother Charles aka Soul Vengance mainly for this one scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgAG_FZUFf0

Have a few others coming in with those like The Phantom of the Paradise, the uncut version of Thriller: A Cruel Picture and The Playmates meet the Vampire.

XYCat: I still have to watch my Russ Meyer collection I bought the other day :D
avatar
DCT: Love me some Russ Meyer, too bad Faster Pussycat Kill, Kill is so damn expensive to get the DVD is 40 and the Blu Ray is 50.
I bought a complete pack with like 19 movies on dvd. It has a cool and extensive booklet thing with photos and stuff.
This thing
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Russ-Meyer-Collection-DVD-Larissa/dp/B000FAOAX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450122069&sr=8-1&keywords=russ+meyer+collection

I see there's also a box with like regular dvd cases inside, but what I have is a smaller box with a dvd rack (lol) in it.
I bought it with a discount. I don't remember how much of a discount but I think it was a pretty good deal.
anyone ever seen Phantom of the Paradise? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9yof8cwli4
Frankenhooker was on two nights ago.

So was the original Night of the Demons but that was really just standard 80s slasher fair. I think Linnea Quigley bieng in it gave it cult status.

In Diablo 2 I named my Barbarian 'Beef'. :P

Sweet, I had a thing for Linnea back in the 80's.

Also love Frankenhooker been meaning to get the Blu ray which has a neat little button that you press and you hear "you want a date?" like the old VHS rental box did. Too bad the Code Red release of Dead Pit did have the old light up zombie eyes on the case like the old rental box.

But yeah love Phantom of the Paradise just got the Scream Factory blu ray release

What, two pages of cult film thread, and nobody mentioned The Rocky Horror Picture Show yet? Shame on you!

Love that movie, by the way. Have gone to see it dressed as Frank N Furter on many occasions.

What others can I think of...

Braindead, definitely. Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.

Oh, and if you haven't seen it, Shame of the Jungle is good for a laugh.

Why not Evil Dead 1?

Matewis: Haven't seen Flash Gordon yet, but the music is cleary awesome, and I love this larger-than-life actor:

The first thing I saw him in was the 1st season of Black Adder

Breja: I love Brain Blessed. He's my favourite kind of actor, he can be runny a ridiculous in cheesy sci-fi one time, and deliver fantastic shakespearian drama the next. In my imaginary casting he will always be the perfect Thorin Oakenshield.
Brian Blessed is absolutely fantastic. Besides being a great actor, he's also generally an awesome person. He's a man who never does anything by half measures.

tinyE: Why not Evil Dead 1?
The first one seemed to try too much to be an actual horror movie, which is more or less impossible to do with only play-doh and ketchup. The second one is my favourite. In my opinion it found the perfect balance between horror and comedy.
