I get the feeling I won't be much help if I haven't seen the movie, huh?

Well, you can still be helpful.

First thing you should do is WATCH THE MOVIE!

You're missing out. But seriously, without seeing the movie the brainstorming might be hard, but you could certainly contribute to design critique/balance later in the process. ;)

Lol, guess watching it might be a good start. Though I'm tight enough on time that I'll probably just critique later.

Carry on! I'll lurk. :-)

*sigh*
Naive cop is missing from the role list.

...perhaps with some event that can un-naivize him.

But doing this as pure Mafia would be difficult. At least if we focus on the actual roles and leave out the extras. Because then the scum faction will be bigger than the town faction.

Or we could make it a big Mafia setup with a large scum faction and an appropriately larger town faction consisting mostly of vanillas.

Or we could simply reverse the factions alignment. (~_^)

Funny, the naive cop in my last game was actually modeled on Danny. Also named Danny.

In the 13 player version there would have been a sanity-modifier role just to really mix things up.

The idea HSL & I discussed was that the roles (theater-wise, not PR) should essentially be reversed. Town are the bad guys (the NWA), and scum are the good guys trying to take them down.

Which was also a theme in my last game ;)

Yeah, what he said :)

OK. Reversed alignment works too!
2ds burp! Bring the ideas in!!
The idea I've had the past few days is that it should feature some mason stuff - admittedly I have no practical experience with that however.

But it would certainly fit the theme.

I still love JMich and Joe for it.

It would fit the theme, but the cop(s) should not be recruitable. There's no way that Nick would join any cult.

Hmmm...I clearly don't know enough about how masons work then. Without researching what these roles are supposed to do, in function I think I was thinking of something more akin to "lovers" - because of the walkie-talkies - moreso than recruitment.

I guess i need to look at the wiki and look at both of those since I've never played a game with either.

Sorry. Confused Masons with a Cult. My error.

bler144: I have no idea why Clive is so mad at me.

This will post-merge but WE.

Possible roles:

Policeman-Officer
Executioner (name: Judge Judy)
Paranoid Gun Owner (Treacher, or the mumbly guy with the barn)
Swan Tracker
Strong-man
Bodyguard
Terrible list. It lacks a certain something... A certain Bulletproof Berzerker role.
