Surprisingly they are doing better than Boll's Postal 2, but I'd guess Ayn Rand has more fans and glout than Boll does.

loved the high speed pace it was going with.

Haven't seen the previous films and don't consider myself a defender or proponent of Rand (at present I've read only a limited selection of her work), but:

Isn't this ironic?

No. Kickstarter represents a "free market" and the very embodiment of what Atlas Shrugged is all about.

The real irony is that detractors continue to use the word "irony" to describe a voluntary value-for-value trade amongst individuals as being in opposition to Rand's philosophy.
and:

Isn't asking for charity antithetical to Ayn Rand's philosophy?

Kickstarter is not charity and we do not seek charity. We are offering a voluntary value-for value trade.

Regarding the idea of charity however, Ayn Rand had no problem with someone giving money to a cause they care about. If someone deems a cause worthy and wants to donate money, they should be free to do it. What Ayn Rand had a problem with is altruism for the sake of altruism as a moral duty, or being compelled, or forced, to "give." The Atlas Shrugged Kickstarter campaign is of course a voluntary value-for-value exchange. You are not obligated to contribute.

"The fact that a man has no claim on others (i.e., that it is not their moral duty to help him and that he cannot demand their help as his right) does not preclude or prohibit good will among men and does not make it immoral to offer or to accept voluntary, non-sacrificial assistance." - Ayn Rand
(both quotes from the Kickstarter FAQ)

Here is how I see it:

That all actually goes down to the old discussion whether payments towards a kickstarter project are "donations" of some kind.
As the existence of donations might carry some moral obligation to donate or evoke some kind of pressure from society to give some (not all!) of Rand's followers say that donations shouldn't exist at all because this feeling of obligation or pressure is self-destructive for society.

Here the creators of the kickstarter argue that they are not asking for donations but are offering a voluntary value-for-value exchange. (The proof of that being that people accept this exchange and as a rational person of Rand's image would only accept a "good" trade, it is obviously a voluntary value-for-value exchange.)
I'm not so sure about that. I'm not so sure that the "rewards" are worth it (but they have to be because people "buy" them!) but I do believe that some people "donate" their money without expecting to get anything of same value out of it. And that would be wrong from Rand's point of view. It would be degrading and self-destructive because it is sacrificial.
But can the kickstarter creators be blamed for that? From Rand's kind of view people should just stop acting so stupid.

Anyway, here some examples of the offered "value-for-value exchanges":
$1: Project Updates
$ 10: Have your name appear on the webpage for life ("Names may be removed at any time.")
$ 5.000: Be an extra in the movie ("we cannot guarantee your image will be in the final cut of the movie")

I am so very sad that they're asking $80 to personalize the whole set.
hmmm a campaign organized via the humble shop, have not seen this construct before.
Seems to be also time unlimited. And also no remarks about a non-steam release...seems I must nag them about it... ;P

While the development team of two people is sparse, they seem to have a background in the demoscene... which is a big plus (in my book) pouet news

NOWHERE , still in early alpha stage, aims to be a holistic first person experience set within a mystic cosmos, focusing on emergent player-driven storytelling, strong social AI and high replayability through the use of procedural content, combining gameplay elements of exploration, survival, strategy, communication and adventure. Our story arc aims to explore human topics such as family, science, religion, politics, culture and history as well as shed light on existential themes such as fate, choice and free will, seen through the unfamiliar lens of individuals in a post humanist, post singularian alien society
