Gnostic: Exploding Kittens

Funded for more than 1 million in a day. I think that's a record breaker.

daveyd: I just cannot understand the huge success of this project. Am I missing something? I'm not really into card games... I play poker once in awhile and that's about it. but even if I was... this game doesn't actually sound particularly fun.. Certainly not pay $20 for a deck, fun.

What the hell, internet?
It's got some big names backing it. The Oatmeal alone is enough to get a nice chunk of change.

Backed, thanks for the link!

I have a question in to the Goetia folks that you posted as well, asking if they are providing a DRM-free version. If so, I'll back that too.

As an Ultima Underworld fan I put a lot of hope in the is project already. Which is crazy.
Good to know, will control this one

Ugg you had to bring it up didn't you? (Well ok it was Gnostic, but I saw your post first) It actually looks like a lot of fun in the simple/fast game way. And yes the fact that one of the guys doing it is from the Oatmeal is what sold me on it. Hopefully the production of the cards isn't skimped on. If I can print them at home at the same quality I will be annoyed.

This one needs more attention! I´m no big fan of classic shooters and no big fan of games inspired by the look of classic shooters---but this one offers just an over-the-top trailer nobody should miss!

Children of Morta looks intriguing.

Not only does Steel Assault totally look like my kind of game, but in reading up on it it appears that one of the artists that worked on it is actually the little brother of an old friend of mine (I met him when he was like 5). Small world, and I'm getting old.

Considering they're at $2.25 million and still climbing, I think you're safe. :P

Hey, maybe they'll go to Bicycle to get them printed. Or Legends, or MPC.
While MPC aren't as good as Bicycle or Legends, they are starting to put out some decent handling decks.
With at least 52,000 being printed of each deck, economies of scale should definitely come into play for at least MPC.
I'm not so sure about Bicycle as they have been kind of coasting on their reputation and being able to charge silly money to print card decks.
And I'm not sure if Legends can handle such a big order - if they did go with a playing card company anyway.

I dunno, the trailer tells me little about the game features except there is tons of gore. Gore is always ugly so not a plus in my book.

Then I saw this and got rubbed in the wrong way

I feel ashamed to back that because I will feel I will be in the same category with that brat.

Really sorry, I cannot help you there

But I thank you for bring Children of Morta to my attention, back that and hope the devs will do away the kickstarter exclusive

I wonder how many signed decks they have to do.... "I started doing my signature as an x on # 100,000" (I'm joking, not an actual quote :P)

Apparently, they have a number of LGS veterans and even Warren Spector is on board as a consultant: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01/21/paul-neurath-brings-iconic-franchise-back-with-underworld-ascendant

I don't even particularly care what game they make as long as it's an immersive sim worthy of LGS legacy.
Guys, do kickstarter save your credit card information without your consent?

With the new amazon to stripe change, I find that my account save my card information. Thinking that it may be a mistake on my part, I remove that information and then pledge a new project.

I made sure I had uncheck the "Save my card information so the next pledge is easier blah blah blah" option, and after I check my account payment settings again, I found it store my card information again!!!!!!

Yes, it does that for me, too. Prior to them switching payment processors, they also did it for projects in currencies other than dollars (which had never been Amazon Payments). In other words, it is an old problem, but they didn't take the opportunity to fix it when they switched everything.
Heard back from the Goetia folks about DRM, unfortunately not the answer I wanted:

We have no plan yet for the release, we would love to work without DRM, but we don't know yet on wich platform the game will be released.

Doesn't instill confidence for a number of reasons. So no funding from me on this one.

I think the trailer is funny (not really 1996-accurate, though) but the enemies actually look kind of dull, and I'm not excited by procedurally generated FPS levels. I wish their campaign well but I'm fine with waiting and seeing on this one.
