Piranjade: The Games & Gears Ichiban Studios Pro Line Brush kickstarter is nearing its end.
The project is funded, most stretchgoals have been reached.

Right now a pledge of £ 30 will get you four brushes in different sizes, a case for those brushes, some downloadable videos on painting miniatures, and a "towel" thing.
I received a message that my brushes are on the way. I'm really excited to receive them soon. :-)

Edit: brushes not bushes.

Piranjade, do you paint minis? Are there any good guides you'd recommend to a newbie who's never painted before? I've seen some guides/posts on sites like BGG and DakkaDakka, but there's such a huge selection of paint colours to choose from, from multiple paint manufacturers (Vallejo, Army Market), that I'm not sure where to start. Is there a one good reliable source that I can follow through before I explore other guides?

Anyway I haven't updated OP because there haven't been many projects worth backing over the last few months. Here are those that I backed and are still ongoing:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/545820095/the-last-parsec-savage-worlds

Also, thinking of backing this because it's such a good deal and I'd like to run a post-apocalypse game with Other Dust during the holidays, but I'm not confident about my painting ability and I don't have shelf space for the minis :(

I have several Blood Bowl teams that await completion, so, yes, I do paint minis but admittedly I'm not really good at it. :-)

I use the Citadel colours (Games Workshop) because that's what my local gaming store stocks.

I don't know of any guides, sorry. I'm in a learning-by-doing situation.
My advise would be to go to your local gaming store and ask the miniature players there if they can get you off to a good start. Often somebody with experience will invite you for an evening of painting. Or, if that's not for you, just sit down with a friend and paint.
When I had the time I managed to paint for one hour a week and found that I was continuously getting better. It seems to be mainly a matter of keeping doing it.

Things I found useful:
Using spray-on foundation. (I have a can of black foundation and one of white foundation.)
Mixing colours on a document sleeve.
Good brushes. (That's why I backed this kickstarter.)

Sorry that I cannot be of more help! Good luck!

Thanks, you pick a lot of good projects. I've messaged them with the DRM-free question.

gandalfnho: I'm interested too, just asked about subtitles (never backed a movie/webseries KS because of this issue...)
Did you get an answer back? I've messaged twice about the DVD format and gotten no reply.

It's a TBS, be advised!

So it looks like one of the Terraria Online moderators has pulled together a team to make a Starbound-esque game called Stardale:

I asked about DRM-Free options and modding tools on the forums, and I think you'll be pleased with their replies. :)

While that project looks interesting (AND I was miffed that the Starbound devs didn't want to bring their game on GOG) I'm not sure if I want to back it.
It looks like an awful lot of work for three people of which only one has experience - in creating apps.
Also, there is no ETA for the game, or did I overlook that?

Any idea about a DRM-free option? Love how the game looks and would instabuy if it came to GOG.

Give it time, though. Still no answer on my DRM-free question from them. Given they are BioShock alumni, I think the likelihood is going to be low that I'll get a good answer.
