nightrunner227: The default time slots on KS are 30 days and 45 days. Being optimistic, that means they've raised 10% of their goal in 20% of their time. Unfortunately, the beginning of a campaign is usually the fastest period of funding growth, with a long period of stagnation in the middle before another rally at the end. I don't really see this making it. :/

Thaumaturge: Eh, that last push can sometimes be quite impressive.

... A guy can hope, can't he? ^^;
I'm there with you. (I went ahead and pledged 30)

Starmaker: Should have four of each.
(I'm serious.)
This man right here understands.

"That makes me wish I had four arms..." :D

Starmaker: So the techies' Stalker involvement claims are as real as their writer's spetsnaz past? Why am I not surprised.
Well, he is a fantasy writer... how do you say... мечтать не вредно?

Reever: Though it's surprising she has four arms instead of four boobs....:D

On second thought....:D
I just launched my GoFundMe for the manga-ization of The Darkest Wand. If anyone's interested, it's here:

http://www.gofundme.com/TheDarkestWandManga

This is for the early funding that I'm offering to friends and family and Internet acquaintances to get some funding and give away my digital books for a little under retail. For any of you guys who have missed my other giveaways or the Groupees.com community bundle, there's a link to get my fantasy The Darkest Wand free for a limited time (and it's DRM-free).

Peace and love, guys!
Last two hours to back some really, really snazzy pop-up terrain! It's like the old pop-up books. Except with fantasy ruins and forests and fishmonger shacks.

Are you the author of that book? I began to read a few chapters after it was offered for free at Amazon and I was surprised how hooked I became, quite the book actually. Now that I own a Kindle I'll have to make sure I read the entire book. :)

Why, thank you! That makes my day.

I hope you enjoy reading the rest!

Wow, that kit almost makes me want to get into tabletop gaming. I'm really impressed, it's strong and it folds up for easy storage.

Rakuru: Yeah, the DLC chapters would supposedly be free, but I would still worry about them actually being able to finish all of the chapters and the storyline. It looks like their Kickstarter promises a new 3 - 6 hour chapter every 2 - 3 months, which also sounds like a very ambitious goal for a small indie team. They promise more than 20 additional chapters after the game's release, so even if they somehow manage to squeeze out one chapter every 3 months, that's a minimum of five years that the players would have to wait for the conclusion of the plot. For the dev team, it means five years or more spent working full-time or more on free content for their aging game while they could have just made a focused 30-hour game that's complete upfront and spent the rest of their time developing a sequel and having more freedom to actually improve and change the engine/gameplay.

IAmSinistar: Ach, I didn't notice this aspect of the planned release. It does indeed sound like pie in the sky, and I wouldn't be surprised if after the initial game release the devs went "Well, sales aren't what we hoped, so it's with a heavy heart that we have to cancel the rest of the chapters". Perhaps if they were an established studio this plan might be feasible, though that's a ton of content updates even then. I don't know of any game that I've played which went beyond 5 DLCs that meaningfully extended the storyline.
I get the impression that it might be the case that the base game is more or less a complete story, but the future chapters will elaborate and expand upon the game world. It sounds like the future chapters won't necessarily be played with the same protagonist so it's more like you're seeing aspects of the storyline from different perspectives. At least, it doesn't necessarily sound to me like the base game will end on a huge cliffhanger.

I asked the developers how they could possibly hope to fund all of those future chapters if they are all free and they said they intend to explain how it will work in an update in the near future.
Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows

A dark 3rd person stealth game about an undead warrior with the power to control the shadows. PC/Mac/Linux. DRM-free...

Not sure if anyone posted this one before, I just got an email about it.

Sunset by Tale of Tales (devs of The Graveyard, The Path and Bientôt l'été)

Sunset is a narrative-driven first-person videogame that takes place in a single apartment in a fictional South American city in the early 1970s. You play a housekeeper called Angela Burnes. Every week, an hour before sunset, you visit the swanky bachelor pad of Gabriel Ortega. You are given a number of tasks to do, but the temptation to go through his stuff is irresistible. As you get to know your mysterious employer better, you are sucked into a rebellious plot against a notorious dictator Generalísimo Ricardo Miraflores.

It has already reached it's funding goal and is close to reaching its stretch goal as well.
