Looting, hoarding, stealing everything of value, rarity or any kind of sentimental value. And playing rogue in any game, even if there is no such thing as rogue in there.
Also, in Skyrim, I would upgrade my pickpocket skill quickly, then steal clothes of any individual who would seem to be an arsehole. Then throw a few coins (with command) on the ground and a carrot or potato to humiliate them a bit more.

being scared to sell things that I know I *won't* need later (because I've played the game before).
Also, intentionally harming my character because I need to do so for an experiment. (For example, in many games you need to be low on health to see how much healing spells restore.)
One specific example in a game I am playing (Oblivion):
Using the cheat console to intentionally afflict myself with Astral Vapors, so I don't have to take into account Magicka regeneration.
Using the console command "player.disable" (which is known to crash the game)
Some others:
Wizardry 8: Before properly leaving the Upper Monastery, I like to go out of bounds, and then rest there. (I posted a screenshot on the Wizardry series subforum a little while ago that I took from OOB.)
Arena: Levitating over the water on a city's edge, causing the game to crash shortly afterwords as I'm trying to go out of bounds.
Arena again: Buying up the magic shop's inventory, then trying to buy a spell, causing the game to crash.
Morrowind: Created a mod in which every single race was made non-playable, then tried starting the game with the mod. I was actually able to start a new game, and in case you're wondering, the character ended up being a Dark Elf (even though that race isn't playable in this mod).
Daggerfall: After buying a ship, going inside the hull, then swinging at the door, causing guards to go after me. After surrendering, I have 1 Health, but am not taken to court (because there is no court in the Coast of High Rock region).
Daggerfall: Pretending to rest outside in town, causing guards to attack, then fighting the guards for fun.
Arena: Creating a spell that drains a stat in an area at range, then deliberately hitting myself with it (which crashes the game).
Morrowind: Taking advantage of drain effects; when combined with fortify effects, I can get my fatigue (misnamed attribute) way above its maximum; one jump and I go really high and take negative fall damage.
Etrian Odyssey 2, Final Fantasy V: Finding a way to do so much damage that an integer overflow occurs, causing the attack to do much less damage than expected.
Final Fantasy 1 (Origins): Taking the time to get my level 99 Monk to do 50976 damage to a frost wolf. (Without buffs, she did 8000+ to most enemies, 6000+ to the final boss (who "only" has 4000 HP in this version, and 3980 to flans (less if the flan is paralyzed).
Final Fantasy Legend (SaGa): Since the RNG is so horrible, taking advantage of the RNG's predictableness to win a battle I otherwise kept losing.

Trying to roll better weapons in Starbound even though if I knew JSON, I could just spawn a gun that shoots meteors. This was done while ignoring the story, so the only thing this would be good for would be to cheese monsters when I could just disable their spawning anyway.
In the Avernum remakes, thanks to the junk bag of no limitations, looting anything of value and storing the really valuable things off in some remote chest in Fort Remote/similarly distant area.
In the Dwarf Fortress Object Testing Arena, I would combine the drop tower with gladiatorial combat, attempting to throw helpless goblins off the towers, into pits below.
SimplePlanes introduced a Quadcopter. I thought that to be too conventional, so I ripped off the propellers and replaced them with the biggest jets the game has. This broke the mach barrier.
In Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, I made several waterslides that rather than safely shoot someone into the pool at ground level, they are instead designed to shoot them safely into a pool from several hundred of feet in the air.
I decided it would be fun to do a Firebomb Run in FTL.
I completed Uru in entirety. Which includes a moment where instead of doing something, you have to stand in one spot for 15 minutes.
Most of my armies/creations in Impossible Creatures could be considered crazy/illogical.

I just jumped on the helicopter to take a better look if i can see the pilot through glass or if glass is not see-through. Got killed by moving blades (naturally). Funny thing is, I also got an achievement for that.

Worried about running out of ammo - results in running around killing everything with a pistol despite being armed with RPGs or Plasma Blasters.

Same with me, playing RAGE. On top of that, with DLC "Scorchers" there came a small casino and cash was no longer a problem. Thus, ammo for every gun was always maxed out. Yet still shooting with pistols...

I hack every computer and go through every crawlspace in Deus Ex Human Revolution for bonus XP. I also knock everyone out for more bonus XP.
I love getting Wanted Level 5 in Saints Row: The Third with STAG because I love watching them run each over with tanks and kblow each other up with beams.

The thing is, in most games it's an all or nothing situation. IE, if you start needing those potions or ammo, you've already screwed up, as a turn wasted healing is a turn not bashing Necrophobe into a red smear. Which is a turn Necrophobe could spend healing itself.

There is nothing crazy or illogical with saving ammo or potions. That's just good common sense and smart gaming. You never know when you are going to screw up and need those extras.

I think a crazy and illogical thing that people do with TBS games is playing them. :P

Chrono Trigger:
Used my Magic Tabs on Ayla, making her healing ability quite powerful. (I wish Marle had that ability, acutally.)
Dragon Warrior 3 (GBC):
Spent hours farming INTSeeds with a party of 4 thieves, then gave them to my Hero. After reaching 255 INT, I had her gain a level, and she gained a lot of MP. (This is actually a good strategy in the post-game, as the hero has the most powerful and expensive spells (HealUsAll costs 62, Thordain costs 30), but normally not a lot of MP to use them; doing this gives her around 510 MP (total) to use them.
Paladin's Quest:
When first visiting the Throne of the Immortals, you normally have to pay something like 100G to gain admittance, and there is no way to fight enemies or go back to a place you can to get more money. On my most recent playthrough, after saving I deliberately spent all my money (with less than 100G left over), then tried to go to the throne, and the guard let me in for free. (Something similar happens with Pokemon Yellow's Safari Zone, though you don't get as many Safari Balls (which fortunately aren't needed to get the item needed to progress).)

In any game where you can die and you can also save anywhere: Saving my game after every battle, "so I won't have to repeat that battle," no matter how easy or effortless it was. I won the battle! No rematches!
