Tarm: Well there are always exceptions. ;)

It's not as much persons as it is topics really.

ApexProcyon: Uninteresting topics are created and discussed by uninteresting people. Don't try to sugarcoat it.
Well. In my experience uninteresting people can make lots of interesting posts. Usually by being clueless, weird or them simply getting the wrong conclusion from facts.

morolf: Well, what do you want to talk about?
Me? I want YOU to trigger my interest here and not the other way around. ;)

HereForTheBeer: Haha, well, maybe it's like the family get-together, where the same old stories told over and over again. But if you have some ideas for fun topics, we're all ears.
See my answer to morolf. :)

Tarm: I feel I haven't missed anything by my absence.

drealmer7: I've missed YOU!
Thanks! And I miss my conversations with you too.
I miss myself on social media alot. Unfortunately I can't stand much of it anymore. It's the quantity that sucks the energy of off me so that's one reason I'd like more "concentrated quality crap" here. :)

tinyE: i'm still here

oh wait
Hey friend I haven't forgotten you. Still going through the same joke patern? ;)

Tarm: Greetings.

Huh. Interesting crap posts have truly died. Or interesting persons have left.
Anyway I feel I haven't missed anything by my absence.

hedwards: It's been that way for years. Interesting posts get drowned in a sea of forum games, contests and things that really ought to have their own subforum.

Not that I have anything i particular against those sorts of posts, but they do tend to drag on for a very long time and are often times on the front page for months and in some cases years, leading to the situation where new topics are often times not to be found on page one.

Also, there's posters here that are a much bigger pain in the ass than in the past. Saying anything even remotely interesting can result in pain in the ass responses that don't really address the point or add anything interesting. And god help you if you're foolish enough to realize that it's going nowhere and walk away as then you get to deal with the minor annoyance of people without anything interesting to say using moderation to register that they disagree rather than advance some sort of argument.
Yeah your two first points are old ones and yes the answer is more subforums. I mean how hard can it be? I've been a forum moderator and I could literally create a new subforum by a couple of clicks, some writing for forum rules and a couple posts to make clear how the rules work. I mean the code for the forum can't be that big a mess can it to prevent that?

Your third paragraph is not known to me because I don't read the general forum anymore. Sounds like general shite on the net. People abusing moderation in various ways. That's up to the moderators to be good enough to spot it to be frank.

Don't you think that's a bit much of a sense of entitlement?
If you want to be entertained by us, maybe you should pay us?

Way to go GOG. You've thought of a way to make forum members want to commercialize crap posts. Yay!

We're living in a capitalist world, and creating crap posts requires considerable skill, so why not pay for it?
You don't even have to hand over bitcoins or the like, I also take payment in games :-)

Or we could all keep creating crap posts and drop brand names here and there to earn GOG advert money? :P

But why should I care about Gog earning money? Unless they pay me for my quality posts ("Morolf: commenter of the month"..."here's your cheque, Morolf, for your outstanding contributions to the forum"), there's no incentive for me.

The third paragraph is more a reflection of my experience being in here lately. People are very cranky and stiff minded. Not at all the way it was back when we joined in 2008. The level of groupthink has really gotten out of hand. It didn't used to be like that when we first joined all those years ago.

I'm contemplating just not posting in the English GD and try my luck in one of the foreign language ones.
