hahaha I forgot about that

JoeSapphire: but then the numbers don't add up.

"So, as far as I see we have 7 protesters + 1 imam + 2 janissary + vizier Lift. " = 11

and I thought only once because "After the end of the first court session, you must select two players to join your faction."
OK then I don't know wtf is going on

Because yeah then... how do the other roles get picked?

Whatever

I already decided I don't want to win the first way - that sounds boring

I want to win the 2nd way
So -

if you're a protester, you want the janissaries or the imam appointed. because THEN lift gets assassinated.

Which means...

BUT, if the janissaries or the imam AREN'T going to get appointed then you want yourself appointed because then you join lift's team and get sexy abilities.

AH

Is lift's choice a private choice? Do the group know who is judge and commander?
avatar
yogsloth: That's basically how I'm thinking this is supposed to play out from a "Town" perspective
From my perspective it's best if ZFR wins. At the moment its best bet is if Lift chooses 2 rebels.

@Lift, you won't consider it? If you do, then 91% of the players win. In record time. You can't get better odds.

avatar
JoeSapphire: ...
Who are your bragging rights duo?
I'm picking yogs and Pooka. With SPF a backup third.
avatar
ZFR: Who are your bragging rights duo?
whut?
avatar
JoeSapphire: if you're a protester, you want the janissaries or the imam appointed. because THEN lift gets assassinated.
Imam immediately becomes a Loyalist. If he chooses Imam + Protester it's like he chose 2 protesters.
avatar
zazak09: There are only loyalists or rebels in government. Protesters want the rebels to win, but can become loyalists if recruited into the government.

There are 7 protestors, 1 imam, 2 janissaries, and one vizier right now. The Commander and Judge are appointed government positions.
So all we gotta do is not put the Janusairheads in government

Or, I guess, put them both in immediately and then the game ends and... everybody wins except Lift?

Which would also be pretty funny
So we have:
grand vizier (1) +
imam (1), some kind of anti-grand vizier +
power hungry protesters (7), 2 or more (I have no idea how big is our government) are possible loyalist candidates +
rebels (2), remaining +
zero initial loyalists?

I assume that Imam is hidden since I haven't heard from him all this time and I have no idea what it is: on paper it's just another rebel with great power. But who knows.

And we all need to convince Lithrasil somehow to give us a job.
And Lithrasil somehow needs to find out who are the imam and rebels and leave them jobless.

Anyway this game looks interesting.
avatar
ZFR: Who are your bragging rights duo?
Oop. Thought the imam was a rebel and we were looking for 3. Thought you were trying to derp me. Herp-a-derp.

In that case it's deffo Lonzi. And ZFR.
avatar
zazak09: - During the first court phase, the Grand Vizier will secretly appoint two players to join the government .
oho!
avatar
zazak09: - During the intrigue phase, each faction must select a player to accuse (the imam decides for the protesters). Certain abilities can be used during this phase as well.
So after the "night" as it were, we'll have two people to consider, which each team has nominated. One if definitely non-rebel, one might be a rebel.
avatar
zazak09: - During subsequent court phases, everyone must vote to defame an accused player. The accused player with the majority of votes, or most votes once the phase ends, will be executed.
And we have to kill one of them.

okay okay okay
11 players. 7 Protesters and 2 Rebels, Imam and Grand Vizier.

I still can't wrap my head around the game, but

- Grand Vizier can be assassinated by getting a rebel in government. When that happens, we enter a Special Electio- err gotta remember it's the Arabian Middle Ages and not pre-WW2 Germany. So, a Special Court Phase happens to nominate three people for Grand Vizier. If the new Grand Vizier is a Rebel, game over, if not, play continues.
- Two protestants are recruited each turn and are turned into loyalists. If a loyalist is executed, I guess it's a setback for the Grand Vizier and he must now select a replacement rather than add two?

So basically, win conditions include:
- Eliminate Rebels: yeah, good luck with that.
Benefits: Loyalists

- A rebel is Grand Vizier: I have played enough Secret Hitler (if you haven't caught the hint) to know this is likely.
Benefits: Rebels, Imam, Protesters

- Rebels control majority: I am thinking this means Rebels > Loyalists. So appointing both rebels would be an instant win?
Benefits: Rebels, Imam, Protesters

...that's a lot of fun to be had, guys. It's Secret Hitler on steroids.
so, imagine lift picks me, obviously not a rebel with clear loyalist leanings, and decided to throw caution to the wind and pick plucky young yogsloth too.

INTRIGUE!

"Who did he pick??" The rebels will ask themselves. "If we can get them executed we might get ourselves in government."

and

"who did he pick?" the imam will ask themself. "If I can get them executed we might get the rebels in goverment"

(YUP - just realised that I assumed the protesters would be on the loyalists side, but of course they won't be)

"obviously it's Joe!" they will both declare simultaneously.

Joe will be the only option in the court session, will get voted in with a landslide and lose the game.

hm.

Cadaver747: And Lithrasil somehow needs to find out who are the imam and rebels and leave them jobless..
From my understanding if Lift puts the Imam in gov, the imam can limit executions to none government players and he wins.

Protestants that aren't Imams probably don't want to be in the first round of Govs. Because in the event the Imam isn't in government he will nominate the government members for execution
avatar
ZFR: Who are your bragging rights duo?
avatar
JoeSapphire: whut?
eh. 2 rebels, right? Or do we guess who's the uno Vizier for bragging rights? In that case, I think Lift.

Prepost EDIT: OK, I see now what you meant.

OK, change of plans: no one wants to be in government (and risk your life?) except for rebels or imam.
Imam is some kind of neutral SK who target only opposition.

You just dropped an "imam" loaf of bread (I'm kidding, maybe)

IF he can work out who they are - the government is kept secret.
avatar
zazak09: - If the Grand Vizier is assassinated, then the game will enter a special court phase. All members of the government, and a third person chosen by the Imam, will be nominated to become Grand Vizier. Whichever nominated player receives a majority of votes, or the most votes before the phase ends, will become the new Grand Vizier.
If lift is assassinated on the fist turn, everyone will probably just claim their actual role and elect the other rebel to win?

So let's say Lift appoints Joe and that traitorous young scumbag Yogsloth. Lift turns up dead the next morning.

"WHO DID THAT?" says yogsloth mockingly. "just kidding, it was me. There are currently 10 players in the game, and nine of them aren't on Joe's team. Who wants to win with me? Hyuck hyuck hyuck"
"I do!" choruses all y'other wankers. "Then let's vote for my teammate Microfish! says yogsloth."

Lolololol. Joe Loses.

^ PROBABLY this doesn't happen, because there is no discussion during the special court session? That must be the case.

Okay okay okay.
oooh

I kinda like being "plucky"

I want to be pluckier

plucky plucky plucky plucky

...

great, now the word got all mushy in my head
