Honestly, I have no clue. I'm so uninterested in my own country.
I will note that people are undeservedly snobbish. Doesn't matter what socioeconomic status they fit, or any other background criteria, their heads are so far up their damn asses. [tip of the iceberg, rant]
I hate my fellow Australians.

We're in dairy country so, uh, dairy stuff.
We tend to have a Princess or Queen for just about every local annual event, no matter how small. I think that's probably prevalent around much of the country, mostly in rural areas.
Brandy-7, Korbel and 7, CB and 7: Brandy and 7-Up.
Elongated / mangled Os. Boat is "bowut", spoon is "spoowun".
Re: New Mexico - got a sister and b-i-l down there, around Alamogordo. Whenever they come up we insist they bring at least a couple bottles of chile wine. Good stuff. That's some rugged territory but quite beautiful in its own way.

It's hard to judge which custom is strange, but I guess in Brazil people tend to value their personal hygiene:
- People take at least one shower per day, very often more than one.
- People always brush their teeth after a meal, to the point of bringing toothbrushes to work/college. It's common to see people in the bathrooms brushing their teeth after lunch.
- It's considered impolite to blow your nose in public, people tend to go to the bathroom to do that.
- People never touch their food with their hands, they always use a napkin if they need to grab it. It's not uncommon to eat pizza with a fork and knife.
This is just in general, of course, there will always be people who don't do these things.

Guy Fawkes Night
Morris Dancing
Maypole Dancing
Cheese Rolling
Worm Charming
Gurning
Pearly King and Queen
Ascot Ladies Day
Bog Snorkeling
Straw Bear (Strawboer) Day
I'm pretty sure there's plenty more. Look 'em up.

2. Our home is our castle, we generally like our privacy, home is a place where we want to shut out the rest of the world. It is not that customary just to drop by without notifying beforehand.
Heck, a lot of us don't even like it.

I love that stuff.
I've been told that the best way to make it is with U-Bet chocolate syrup. Are the legends true?
No, because I am a wise man without a history of suicidal tendencies.

Just because it sounds strange too YOU doesn't mean it is suicidal. You know, this could be seen as a wee bit offensive ;)
But give it really a try if you have a chance. Even just to be able to say afterwards, yes I did it;)

Offering German food despite that the local food is great/good?
Offering German beer.....ok bad example ;)
Offering German DAILY newspapers.
And some other stuff. Pisses me off, If I go to another country, I don't do it to have my food there but the normal local food.
