randomuser.833: Claiming it is more about the gog users, then a long lasting thread directly in the main forum of GoG.
For those (seemingly) not understanding my post about that forum thread not being proper evidence for lack of popularity of boycotting an example. The numbers and reasoning are made up. The purpose is demonstration of my point.

There are 1000 people in the forum sufficiently willing to notice and read a ('any') thread and post there.
So 1000 people noticed this thread (with the 50 boycotters) and read it. Lets also assume that there is a 1:1 correlation between boycotters in the 1000 people and those adding themselves as boycotters in the thread.
So 5% of active forum people are boycotters.
This can be extrapolated onto GOG users. Note that for active GOG users boycotting is more painful than for random GOG users. OTOH active GOG users may also care more and are better informed. To keep it simple I assume that those 2 (one positive, one negative) counter each other and I can simply extrapolate.
The number of GOG users is 10M.
So 5% of 10M are boycotters.
That makes 500K boycotters.

=> No, simply pointing at this thread without further reasoning and numbers do not imply that 'tens of thousands' is an exaggeration. In fact the opposite could be argued.
This obsession that people have with the vision of Gog going out of business. God knows how many threads like these we had in the last two years alone.

"Let me make up some numbers out of thin air to support my unrealistic claim".
Seems very unlikely, investor lawsuits typically don't get very far AFAIK, and they don't want to destroy the company they've invested in.

Which 'unrealistic claim' (of me) are you referring to?

Yeah but that one guy that gets it right will earn all the Internet points. Can you even imagine all the women that will throw themselves at his feet?

They do feel a certain level of self-importance. I wonder what do they see when they look in the mirror. Themselves the way they are, or someone bigger, better and smarter.

If you would have actually read my post you might have noticed that I didnt make that claim. It was a hypothetical example. I even wrote it in bold: "The numbers and reasoning are made up." in the respective post: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/could_the_lawsuit_cause_gog_to_be_shutdown/post50

You want to support your tens of thousands by makeing up some numbers you want to be seen legit.

Just stop it...

I dont understand what you mean with that claim. (And its probably wrong but due to not understanding what you mean I cant say for sure.) Especially do I not know what you mean with "your tens of thousands".

thefallenalchemist: Okay sir, you are greatly exaggerating the Devotion situation. Maybe a couple hundred or a thousand, but not tens and hundreds of thousands.

How does that make those "tens of thousands" "my tens of thousands"? I dont know if its tens of thousands or not and without proper evidence or reasoning (which I currently dont have) I wouldnt make such a claim. So if you want me to "stop it" stop making up false claims?
