hello,

i'm pretty confused about gog payments. i don't have a credit card so i get parents to buy it (normally cheap discs e.g. ut3 off ebay) however steam/itunes/ origin have cards you just buy from stores. the problem starts with gog. say i want to buy a £20 game, they give me £3 back in store credit. ok that's fine. they support paysafe, cool i'll consider picking that up. except gog only supports USD or conversion to it. current rate being I pay £1 for every £25. so now my £20 item is costing me an an extra £4?!? i'm lost. why would i do this?

timmy010: hello,
I recommend you email support (support up top) and make sure to pick a purchasing category. Explain your situation to them in detail, and I'm sure they'll help you find the best solution, or at least understand the conversions fully.

You can change payment currency to GBP in the footer of the main page. Just keep in mind exchange rate on GOG is changed rarely (like once in several days or weeks even), so sometimes it's still cheaper to use USD.

E: you can also change currency in your account setting: https://www.gog.com/account/settings/personal

I've not had any or you'd see me rising to the occasion.
I've got more than 125 games here on GOG, and I haven't paid in USD for a single one of them. Check your settings for your selected currency, and change it from USD to GBP.
I read on this site somewhere that paysafe is only handled in usd. So me buying the card from store is GBP and subject to conversion

I see... Well that sucks, and more so considering it's an European company. :\

Maybe that's because it was in 2013?

I don't think that piece of information from 2013 is current anymore. The last time I was charged in USD was more than one and a half years ago.

Well, I dunno... I've never used paysafecard (only PayPal).
What 0Grapher means is that local currencies and regional pricing were introduced after paysafecard option was introduced, so the only currency on gog was usd at the time.

As for paysafecard currency: you pay in the currency you selected. You can check this by simply going through payment process without actually putting in any paysafe codes at the end.

I'm looking at those numbers and getting a different result. If you were buying a £20 game and getting £3 back then you're still paying £20, with a net cost of £17. You're not paying £4 extra, you're effectively paying £3 less

I think that thing about PaySafe and USD was from years ago, before GOG added extra currencies, and is no longer the case. If so, you should be able to change your currency to UK pounds over here and not have to worry about conversion fees. (Can anyone confirm this?)

Hope that clears it up a bit
