paladin181: If you do this, get ready for a LOT of the same game over and over again.
Well, mostly. I think you can pair the first two Gothics and Risen and Gothic 3 more accurately though, with a major improvement in controls and reduced jankiness between the pairs (can't talk about the later games, haven't played any), for which reason I definitely wouldn't recommend playing the latter before the former, since it'll make it even harder to adjust. But the atmosphere of the first two Gothics is top notch despite it all, and may even be better than in the later games.
Just FYI (for anyone suggesting it), OP is not a bot.
Buy Gothic now or else ...

Did it work?
Buy Gothic

Interesting. With the username, types of questions, and no games listed, bot was certainly my first guess. Bit will take your word for it.

Agree!

I'm sorry to say, OP, but if you are under, let's say, 30 years of age, you CANNOT be convinced to play Gothic 1. You may be accustomed to more modern games, that you won't be able to play it.

Not sure why you can't see my games, I have 5 already.

No one who has added games to their account recently has any games displaying. I have over 900, but if you look at my profile, it says 0.

What about Risen 3? ^_^
You must have some interest in the game, otherwise you wouldn't have made this thread (assuming you're really not a bot), so just buy it. You don't need anyone to convince you.

I advise you to! If one can overcome the old graphics and the rough movements, NO ONE should miss the first two Gothic games.
Uncommon opinion: Risen 2 and 3 aren't nearly as bad the general consensus claims.
They're not on par with the others, but they have their charm, imo -although some parts of them are kinda broken.

JJoodkokksokKKSk: I've got welfare money to burn and need a good old school RPG
Not sure what you mean by "old school RPG", that reminds me more of something like Ultima 5 or Wizardry 7, or at best Baldur's Gate 2.

Anyway, yeah, Gothic left a good taste into my mouth. The controls felt a bit odd at first but I got used to them.

I liked how the game world was restricted and not so vast (after all, it was an outdoors prison), but big enough so that it gave you freedom to just running to some direction and find something interesting there.
Gothic and Gothic 2 are absolutely worth their respective undiscounted prices anyway, but if you really need to save some money you might want to wait until tomorrow when Gothic 2 turns 20 and GoG possibly maybe puts them on sale for the occasion.

Edit: They're discounted right now as part of the current sale, I just noticed.
