Vnlr: Everyone doing allright?

I won't be participating in this sale methinks, I'll just hang back and enjoy you lot enjoying it :p
Doing fine on my end... Sorry to hear about this hospital business ô__ô I hope nothing serious (as un-serious as can be anyway, for being in a hospital :-|)

I dunno if we are "enjoying" the sale exactly... more like "tolerating" it ;-p It's been a boring one.

ddickinson: I am very sorry to hear that. i hope it is nothing serious and that you are on the mend? *big healing hug*

I am glad to hear you have been enjoying your music. And I hope your school work and things are going just fine?
I'm faring far better than a while ago allready, there wasn't too much physical damage, I'd rather not go further into that ...

And music has been very nice, I took my time exploring the music of some of my favourite composers a bit further. I 've also written some more myself, but that's just the usual muck.

The biggest problem was that there was an intermediary exam of statistics today, and I had about a week to fully catch up on a whole coursebook. But it went well, and I expect that I've managed to pass it :)

What's up with it then? bad selection of titles? :p

CarrionCrow: I'd say Ground Control, Sword of the Samurai and Darklands.
Ground Control looks like my type of game, and as a plus, is in my backlog ;-)
It was one of the first ones that I bought here, because someone in a community I was part of well over a decade ago would just never shut up about it. So when I saw it here, I thought "hey, maybe I'll finally listen to whateverhisnamewas and give it a shot" :-p

Constant repetition with small batches every time.

That is totally fine, I am sorry, I did not mean to intrude. But I am glad to hear things seem to be looking up for you. I hope it continues that way.

It must be nice being able to write music. that is not something I have ever had the drive to do. It is only recently that I have been learning the piano, so my music still other than singing is virtually non existent.

That is great news. Fingers crossed you have passed it then.

Well... An arguably "too new" selection of titles. Not a whole lot of old stuff, which means the prices are a bit higher overall (but not always - there have been some really good deals.)
Quantities for each game are only 25-50, so they run out quicker than ever. And since there are less than 150 games in the sale, they start repeating every couple of hours. It got boring almost immediately.
Plus gifting restrictions... plus GOG's freebies ran out on day three (the freebie system was already buggy, and in my opinion, the lamest freebie system yet.)
The whole thing has been a mix of frustration and boredom, which would be totally un-fun if not for the slightly-higher-than-usual traffic on our thread here :-)

That's perfectly fine, I just drew up a bit of a preventive border (you didn't intrude at all) ;)

Being able to write music is nice indeed, but getting the hang of all the little things is very annoying. But ever since it's mostly a private affair and I don't expect performances anytime soon (if at all), I'm very content to just have some output I myself can enjoy. It's a fun creative process too!

And don't worry, I can't play the piano or even sing at all. I just try chords on it and don't use it for much else. I mostly jot down melodies and stuff out of the top of my head while on the bus to school :p

I love signing, and I decided on the piano just as something to challenge my mind. Sadly not long after started I became quite ill, so my progress is slow, but I really enjoy it. And it will be nice to eventually be good enough to play stuff together with my partner some day.
Must survive... Just 3 more hours.

Your partner is a musician already then? :)

I used to harbour dreams of playing my favorite pieces along on a recursor, but that shall have to wait for another while...

I also just found out that something apparently happened in Brussels (?). Guess my protective barrier is holding quite well. I have no wish to find out what happened, or god forbid, hear eminent authorities speak their minds on the matter. **Up go the Blinkers again**

She plays the violin, quite beautifully as well. I did consider the violin, and she offered to teach me all I wanted, but I have always been a big fan of the piano over all the other instruments.

Lovely, I really like string instruments. And woodwinds.

And piano's are quite nice as well, but I prefer them as part of an orchestra, I grow nervous when they are overly present in chamber music (tingeltangel)

I really like these two myself, especially the second!

I don't mind the piano as a solo or primary instrument. I think it can be lovely. But granted it is personal preference, we all have our different tastes when it comes to music.

Luckily, perhaps, we do :p

I often squeeze in a piano into an orchestra to, but mostly for rythmic and percussive reasons. Although that might not be doing the instrument much justice.

I have to be going now however, it was lovely chatting to you. I might pop in later this weekend if Owl is in, she's very dear to me (that's the way to say that right?)

Salutes to all of you *big hugs* *sprankle some polish on Agent's helmet*!!
Speaking of music... How about a song of the day? Just because it has been stuck in my head this morning...

Deep Purple - Hush
(or, if you'd prefer it with more bullets and explosions :-p)

And a random question for everyone :
Have you been part of another online community? I mean, on a nearly daily basis, like here?
I used to frequent a C&C community about 12-14 years ago that formed from a group of Renegade players. Eventually they branched off into other games that I didn't really care about, and everyone started drifting apart. The website is still around though. Other than that, I haven't been too involved in any community until this one.

Yeah, you said it right :-) See you later, Vnlr! Take care of yourself!
*tips my extra-shiny helmet* ;-p
