Hello there.

j0ekerr: Until you get to level 16 and get yourself a set of dragon scale armour and vorpal blades. Then you walk around like you were kryptonian.
Level 20 Wizards swag like they're Darkseid.
-laughs- Yeah, pretty much. If you can get through the crap of level 1 on Baldur's Gate 1 and keep going, you do eventually end up a level 30 ultra-badass by the end of Throne of Bhaal.

Goedemorgen :)
How are you doing today?

Btw is your CC problem solved? I remember reading that couldn't buy anything here anymore...

ddickinson: I figured as much, that is why I never considered that to be the same as playing a real Baldur's Gate game.

I know they would not mind. If I tried them and did not like them then I would of course stop. I would not force myself to play them just because they were a gift, just as I would not expect others to do so with any game I gift them. I just meant that I can't really justify any more RPGs, even modern ones with very good feedback, while I still have some unplayed. It is not like Pillars is going anywhere, and by the time I get to playing it I am sure it will be a lot cheaper as well.

Would you suggest I start with Icewind or Baldur's Gate first when I get around to it?
That's good. Certainly wouldn't want you to think you had to with anything I send you.

Depends. If you're looking for more combat, looting and exploring? Pick Icewind.
If you want the beginning of a very big, epic story that has a lot of questing, talking with people, dialogue, along with the combat and looting? Pick Baldur's Gate.

hello, hello! *happy greetings from a grim tormented plane of planescape torment*
were you in a street fight? :P

ddickinson: Thank you. I know you can't rename characters in the original version. So maybe I will play a few times on that version, then try the advanced version when I rename the characters to the Fred crew. How much more complicated would you say the advanced version is compared to the regular version?
You might be able to rename them. When the advanced edition was released, a couple of little features (improved interface stuff - not gameplay changes) were applied to the original too. I'm not 100% positive about name changing though.
The advanced mode has 3 new ship systems that wildly change the combat, and I'm still not entirely used to them. Advanced edition introduces the "hacking drone" and mind control, which make battles much more unpredictable. A handful of new weapons and drones make things even more hectic.
Random note : Advanced edition is not a separate launcher - it is toggled on/off when you select your ship at the beginning.

I have no clue.
This was the response from support:

"It looks like you were blocked by our payment processor's fraud screening system, due to a high velocity of transactions. We did prepare for this, so we're now investigating why you were blocked, even though you shouldn't have. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately whitelist requests are processed manually by our processor, and I cannot promise that you will be able to use your cards by the end of the day. "

I guess it's fixed, guess I'll find out next sale. :P
Thanks for remembering. :)

Hmmm. I know this is not the right word, so please forgive that, but which would you say is the most casual one of the two? I have been feeling a more RPG craving lately, but obviously I can't really game for too long, and often not at all. So if I started one I think I would go with which ever was the most "causal", if that makes sense?

Also, what are the save systems like? Can I just save anywhere, or is it a bit like Diablo where I would lose progress and end up back in the town?

Sorry for all the questions. But thank you for taking the time to answer them.

Good morning. =)

That's good. Apologies if you mentioned it and I just missed it, but how did your knee end up being injured originally?

So it happens because you bought too much in a short period of time o_O

Thank you for the lovely answer. I am looking forward to trying the game. As soon as my head is a little better and I am feeling up to it it is on my to play soon list. Also, one more question. How does the teleporter work, by that I mean how do you get your men back after sending them over there? Do they just die when you destroy the enemy ship, or are they automatically returned?

*big thank you hug*

That makes sense to me. Also, no need to apologize, for either the word usage (which looks appropriate to me) or for asking questions.

I'd say go with Icewind. The beginning is easier, I think, the difficulty curve more gradual.

The save system is a combination of auto-saving into one slot when you enter new areas, along with a manual save anywhere system.
