FearfulSymmetry: That's so awesome! I've learned about the Globe in my courses on theater, but I've never actually been there, so I'm really excited to go and experience it for myself. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun. My best friend is coming along on the trip as well, and our schedule so far is looking great, so I'm sure it will be amazing.
avatar
ddickinson: When I was there last, there were some American (or Canadian) tourists who were complaining at the size of it. They seemed to think that the Globe theatre was the size of a modern arena. They did not consider that there were fewer people 500 years ago, and that very few people would be able to see the shows. The plays are nicely done, quite authentic for the most part.

If you get to see some other shows while you are there, and if you are into ballet, then I can recommend the Royal Opera House. The shows they put on are wonderful.

EndreWhiteMane: Bitten by one of my own ideas again. Wait........
That might prove I'm under 100. :-)
avatar
ddickinson: I think that the fact you are on GOG and not Steam, shows that you have an IQ above 100. :-)
I believe the Globe Theater shown at the beginning of Laurence Olivier's Henry the fifth is quite accurate depicting its size. Could you confirm this?

adaliabooks: We've got a reasonably full calendar so far and there should be more events to add as time goes on. We've only been going for about a year so we were pretty lucky with the weather last year. But it has been quite over the winter with the weather being bad so I imagine if it's awful we will suffer a bit.
avatar
ddickinson: It must have been a big step going into it. I don't think I have ever had wood fired pizza, if I have then it was a long time ago. Hopefully the weather this year will be favourable and you will have a good year. Just be sure to save some money for a rainy day. If it's anything like farming, then a bad patch of weather can cost you quite a lot of financial problems.
Yeah, it was a little. But I'm nothing if not a risk taker. We were both sick of our office jobs and had talked about opening a cafe or something for years. We couldn't stretch to a cafe but we could afford the Pizza van so we decided to give it a go.
You should definitely try it if you get a chance. Honestly the best way to eat pizza.
Yeah, we've learnt that this year and we will certainly be putting money aside for next Winter.

It's funny about the EU and farmers. Here farmers all hate it but in Ireland the EU subsidised everything for farmers and they loved it (or at least they did 10 years ago, I imagine a lot may have changed). I do agree that the EU is corrupt, but I think it's easier to fix the corruption then to take it apart and start again.

EndreWhiteMane: Everyone needs to watch some Monty Python, nothing else in the world quite like it.
It's British humour run completely amok! :-)
NOBODY EXPECTS THE BUNNY INQUISITION!

Our chief weapons are surprise, fear, and a fanatical devotion to processed fish paste!

CarrionCrow: I used to go so often every clerk at four stores knew me by sight alone, and all of them carried video games.
Was that a service for you or just a (I guess unsuccessful) try to save them from you? ;)

The latter obviously.

I'm afraid that the concept of renting something othen than videotapes didn't even occur to anyone at the time.

And I noticed this a few days ago, but I'm just now asking about it. What happened to the avatar pictures? Forum updates?

I like your risk taking attitude, that's how I would be. I don't think I would be well suited to an office job. I would think the first few years would be the hardest for you to save money for. Once you have a nice nest egg saved up things get easier and you can start to enjoy the money you earn. I bet you enjoy working the van with your partner. I know it's not for everyone, but working with family/partners can be wonderful.

The subsidies can often damage a farmer, at least the independent ones. Many of the EU regulations seem to punish independent farmers, favouring those owned by big corporations. I think even Irish farmers are starting to see the damage the whole subsidising can have on the farmers and the market. But I agree about fixing it rather than just starting again. But sadly I don't see it getting better anytime soon. Politics are just getting worse and the corruption doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Honestly it's the best thing we've ever done. We love working together and working for ourselves. Yeah, there's still a lot of things to cover right now so it's hard to save. Plus we're naturally shit at saving which doesn't help XD

I don't really know the ins and outs, only that it used to be seen ad a good thing in Ireland. But I'm sure you will know much more being actually involved with it.
I agree about politics, I'd wash my hands of the whole thing if I didn't know that would just make it worse (in so much as I don't have even the slightest say in what happens if I don't vote at all)

Edit: Anyway, that's me out. Nice talking to you :)
Night All.

-laughs- I don't think they were too worried about being saved from me. I spent enough money, no one minded me being there so much. =)

I know what you mean about working for yourself and with people you love. Hopefully you will have a long and successful go at it. And who knows, maybe one day you can get your restaurant. Fingers crossed.

Goodnight! As always, a pleasure talking with you.

As somebody who uses euros and lives somewhere in constant danger of being royally screwed by EU economic policies. I am of the opinion that the EU is an excellent idea, horribly implemented.

And that's all I'm going to talk about politics except for rubber chickens with pulleys in the middle. We need standarization now. Too many have suffered from non standarized pulleys or cheap rubber.

Oh and good night Adalia

Well I had better call it a night as well. I'm not that tired, but I know that I had better get some rest for work, or I will regret it during the day.

Goodnight everyone!

*goodnight hugs*
