It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

ElTerprise: Yep. It's pretty good - it still has some compatibility issues (and in completey plucks up the formatting and whatnot) with MS office document which is why still use MS Office - but otherwise i really like it because unlike the Ribbon-system from MS it actually has a useful interface.

Congrats. Are you continuing with platformers or similar games?
It's a combo at the moment. 4 difficult platformers still in progress, 2 difficult endless runners and a bunch of other stuff.

ddickinson: I can't really upgrade, so it would have to be a brand new PC built from scratch, and that kind of cost is just not something I feel like spending for a few future games, especially when I still have a big backlog of games I can play.
Likewise. I have a lot more old stuff that plays just fine than new stuff I need upgrades for, so it'll all keep for a while as is.

Stilton: I've reinstalled Windows 7...
avatar
ElTerprise: Oh the envy ^^ a fresh Windows 7 install would be awesome...i mean i don't hate Windows 10 but 7 was a really great system :)
Saving that to an external hard drive is a good way - although i only backup my data that way because i don't mind reinstalling my OS at some point - unless the update server from MS are slow ;)

Depends on the distro i guess. A really minimal one might work. Both good choices - well it definitely is...it's a general problem with KDE systems...because KDE usually has everything included - it's a cool desktop environment but it can be really taxing - also some of the KDE stuff loves to crash... i had it on my Debian system and replaced it with Gnome recently for the moment...really got used that and it's actually a bit faster than KDE.
I still have a fully updated XP installation saved which I did a short while before they cut the servers. Its a really good platform for a lot of excellent games, and having it saved and backed up is a real comfort, knowing I can reinstall it whenever I need to. I don't know how much longer the 7 servers are set to stay, but it seems sensible to get a working copy saved before things start to tail off.

Kubuntu has a load of visual appeal, but it feels a little too bloated compared to the simplicity and speed of Lubuntu and Xubuntu. Neither of them is particularly attractive in its vanilla form, but that can be remedied with visual improvements without losing any of the speed. I actually prefer the look of Xubuntu, so I doubt if I would do anything to change it, just switch around some of the programs to get it just the way I like.

Sounds interesting ... i try to avoid combos recently although i'm currently combining Race the Sun...which is my Zen game for the moment and Sands of Time which finally works decently after i found the correct setting in the Catalyst Control Centre so that the game maintains its original aspect ratio instead of stretching to 16x9 ;)

I've got 23 games in progress right now. I like your combo so much more...

Yes... i remember that you said that....it was/is definitely a good platform. Well according to their plans MS will support Windows 7 until 2020. but you'll never know ....

Oh yes definitely....it's one of the best and professional open source desktop environments with a load of options. I really like the Xubuntu look and feel - even the vanilla one - it was the second distro i used after all. The only thing less good is the default choice of programmes that's for sure ...

Terraria is a "filler game". It's usually played to fill the gaps between playing your other big games :-p
At least in my experience ;-)

Well that can be they case - but for me it's the "play-co-op with great people/friends game" :D

Late Edit: Darn looks like i killed the thread :/
Anyway i wish you all a good night - and see you later :)

Level 26...what a pain in the ass. But on the bright side, only 12 levels to go in total.

CarrionCrow: Good morning. =)

Gotta say, the image of laundry hanging up in your house is kind of adorable for a second, but it does of course sound like a massive pain to deal with.

Glad to see you're staying away from all the weather issues. Enjoy the rain without flowing away down the street, always a good plan to me.

Hope you have a pleasant, peaceful day out there, Zen lady. =) -waves bye while flipping off your garbage internet-
Hi again, Crow, I laughed when I read your post. There's so much sunshine here that clothes driers are rare, except the kind you unfold when needed, so one has occasionally to suffer the perils of wet clothes everywhere. Fortunately it was dry yesterday, good for my washing and for the flooded roads.

You're playing 23 games? Hmm, let's see, that's 2 games per head, carry the one, add a few more games for the smarter heads... I guess some heads are keeping an eye on Netflix or chat? It all sounds very very tiring - I do hope you're getting some sleep in all this activity. ;-)

Waving to Stilton DD and ElT, sorry I missed you. And hi to everyone else I missed (most of you).. My garbage internet, as Crow rightly calls it, makes communication here rather difficult.

In other news, I was sad to see that Kirill Pokrovsky had died, the composer of the Original Sin soundtracks, and other game music also..

Editing to say that I posted this ages ago, and got only the spinning wheels - it finally shows up just when I am leaving. A quick wave and I'm gone.

Every time I'm just about to say hi to you, you disappear.
Criminy.

Good morning. =)

That's good, at least. Drying clothes with no way to easily do so isn't much fun. Wearing wet clothes doesn't really work.

-laughs- Not all at once, thankfully. Not quite that skillful. Just picking my way through everything I started, then stopped for some reason.

Eh...sleep's overrated. Most of the time, it doesn't feel like I slept much at all anyway. Might as well stay up.

Thanks to the wonderful time limit, you probably won't have a chance to respond.
Have a pleasant, peaceful day, Zen lady. =)
Hello gals and guys! It seems my PC is overheating a bit. And I started ~3 hours ago there is still a lot of things to do. Come on buddy, you can deal with it!
Good morning, everyone. I hope a lovely Wednesday is being had by all.

*pours some ice-water on your PC*... hopefully that will take care of it :-)
Seriously though, I hope it's just a random occurrence and nothing serious.

.....did I just witness you trying to electrocute Ghorpm?! o_o
That should make for an interesting new mystery, if he ever makes one.
Good morning, lovely people of the thread! And that one strange guy over there. ;-)

I hope the day will be very nice to you all and that you had a great night's sleep?

It seems we are due a few classic games on Thursday. It will start with two games and the rest coming in the months that follow. The games are:
Uprising: Join or Die (1997)
Uprising: Lead and Destroy (1998)
Requiem: Avenging Angel (1997)
Killing Time (1996)
Captain Quazar (1996)
BattleTanx (1998)

As far as I know it is the two Uprising games coming here first on Thursday.

Also, it looks like The Last Door Season 2 is coming on the 29th of this month, which is actually a game I am looking forward to as despite the graphics of the original, it turned out to be a really nice game, with a nice mix of Lovecraft and Poe. I am not sure if it will be an instabuy, as recently I find it hard to justify more games for myself when I can not play as many as I would like. But it is definitely a game I will get eventually.

Hello there, ZenWan! *big happy to see you wave*

It is very nice to see you again. No need to be sorry about missing people, it happens quite a lot on here, what with timezones and things coming up in real life. I hope you have been taking care of yourself and that you are doing well? I have not been reading back due so sorry if you have answered these questions previously. I need to start making more of an effort to go back and read what I miss, maybe when my head is a little better.
