FearfulSymmetry: Yep, he is. So annoying that you're more or less forced to deal with types like him if you want to get a somewhat affordable room as a student. -__- Thanks for your sympathy, I appreciate it.
Landlords like him rely on people not having a choice due to the cost of housing and rooms. it is like it all over the world, they see a way to take advantage and they take it. It is horrible, and I agree with Crow, in an ideal world he would get what he deserves for treating you all like this.

FearfulSymmetry: Hi Agent, are you okay?

Thanks. I wish I could give him a good punch but unfortunately that's out of the question. So all I can do is keep my fingers crossed this will get resolved. And harass him over the phone.
Yeah, I'm okay. Doing pretty well, actually. I've complained enough recently, so it's about time that I have more pleasant news :-p

I'll keep my *fingers crossed* too that a) things get resolved quickly, and b) a random cow falls on your landlord as he is walking down the street.

CarrionCrow: Good morning.

How's your face feeling?
Fine... Took a handful of painkillers last night, and was able to fall asleep an hour later. Haven't had any trouble since waking up. *cheer* \o/

Another pre-order today? ... A shooter that looks like it came out 25 years ago, with insanely high system requirements... Must be Devolver ;-p

;) Yeah... if it had come out 25 years ago, it would have taken three disks, all in all 3 megabytes. Plus you would have gotten those cool disk-loading screeching sounds :P ... not sure how it was on pc, but on amiga they were really something ;)

Hihi... I was just trying to think about what disk drives sounded like, and couldn't remember it. I did a search for some videos of it (just before you edited that link into your post)... Now I remember :-D

But Agent, those incredible 3D graphics and particle effects, not to mention the real time hair growth and the all time favourite boob juggle technology will need the high specs, so in that case 1GB of VRAM is okay. What?! It is another bloody pixel game that looks like it was made in the early 1990s that would normally run on a potato? I guess developers are just damn lazy these days and can't be bothered to optimise, instead they just blame the engine, yet others use the same engine and optimise it for better results. But we can't say that, as they are poor indie developers who are not held to the same standards event hough they charge the same kind of prices. :-)

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Torchlight was able to run on my older PC from 2003. Even with all the extra RAM required for the bikini armour :-) ... Meanwhile, I couldn't even get Always Sometimes Monsters' menu to run smoothly on the same machine :-|

But it is not their fault, they are poor indies. Heaven forbid you expect them to know how to code properly or optimise in any way. It is not like they are selling their games as a commercial product, so we have no right to complain... oh wait, they are. :-)

True, but with all the kickstarters, couldn't they make one of the stretch-goals "Make it work on a system purchased before 2019" ? Then they would have enough money to take a coding class! :-p

Think I'm going to pass on that one. Day of the Tentacle is one thing. It's a classic.
But I'm getting seriously burned out on samey-looking independents with overblown requirements.

Bottom line, will all the shit we see be remembered five, ten, twenty years down the line?
Not a chance. It's just part of the flood.

Well still no news about the languages for Day of the Tentacle. Guess I'll just re-install my version and go on a nostalgics trip instead

Those stretch goals for games always make me smile. They often ask for so much just to introduce a small feature. Either use smaller steps in your goals or give bigger incentives, as often it just screams of greedy developers. And I bet they would put your goal at the very top of the ladder with a silly price, that way they will never have to optimise the game. :-)

Now now, Crow. They are poor indie developers with limited resources (they just have the entire internet with piles of free or cheap resources, unlike developers of old who had to use books to look up code). You can't expect them to actually know how to code or have original ideas. :-)

I wonder if the English language version is the same as in the original, or if they re-recorded it? If it is the same then why not make the effort and get the German version, if it is a re-recording then invest in some German voice actors. But it is Double Fine we are talking about, they are not exactly a decent company.

I don't think that many are even remembered 5 months after release, let alone 5 years.

That reminds me of when I was tearing Planet Stronghold apart.
My first thought was, "It's a small group, maybe they didn't have a lot of resources."
My second thought was, "They want twenty dollars for their product, and it's bad. Really bad. Should they get a pass? Hell no, they shouldn't. As soon as you charge money, it's open season to attack every fault, flaw, failure and fuck-up."

8-bit Nintendo developers had next to jack shit for resources. Some people made garbage always remembered for just how bad it is. Others made titles that are still loved 30 years later.

Some people just like to deal in excuses for their mediocrity and lack of vision.

-nice big milkshake waves back- ;)

Tried to find more info on that when I saw you mention it, but nothing concrete showed up.
The GOG stream for the game will be on in about an hour. I'll try asking Tim Schafer then, see if I can get some kind of response.

No, they probably won't.

Something that comes to mind as enduring - Hotline Miami 1. That will be remembered based on its combination of visuals, sound, gameplay, story. They put everything together well.
And even they went on to fuck up afterwards.

Hmm.... I should go and get myself a milkshake, now that I am home :D
It is really nice of you trying to find out about the languages, thanks :-)
