CarrionCrow: That's exactly it. There's no alternative, aside from GOG caring about old games, and even then it's not 100 percent by any means since the history of Windows compatibility is such a mess.
Well the problem is that MS doesn't give a shit about that which means that both communities and other companies like GOG have to care about that....

Very true. Their focus on money evidently doesn't allow for things like preserving the entire culture that's made them a shit-ton of it over the years.

Cannot say that i'm overly surprised though - I mean their new PC gaming strategy seems like the same mistake they did with GfWL....and merging Xbone and W10......not sure if that's a good idea...

That sounds...pretty terrible, actually. Windows 10 already smells like yet another version that they're going to be trying to replace within two years time.

Well they might be doing that but i fear it might get worse with the next version....

Quite possibly. They're certainly proven their ability to take something with value and screw it up.

Yep...that's why i think about the farewell :)
But that's easier said then done because i have the best hardware for that ;)
All right, today's business with my good for nothing landlord has convinced me to try and get an apartment with a social building corporation. I'm totally fed up with that ****. I don't know how long it's going to take until I find something, but I'm leaving.

In other news, it appears that absolutely everybody is totally incapable today. I just received a summary of the money I was paid last year by another university for some work I did, only to find out that they had made a mistake and entered one amount twice. The funny thing? They actually made that mistake last year, after which I kindly contacted them and gave them their money back. Back then they told me everything was resolved. And now, a year later, it turns out that they still haven't fixed their administration.

Siiiiiiigh.
Sorry for the late replies, I got ambushed by a two year old who wanted me to read him a bedtime story and then a few others things came up.

Yezemin: Well, I've wishlisted both Day of the Tentacle and Shardlight. DotT because it was one of my very first PC games and I have very fond memories of it, and Shardlight... Well, it's WadjetEye. Need I say more?
Day of the Tentacle definitely seems like a popular game, although I know a few are hoping the other languages could be included.

CarrionCrow: Can't complain here. Not a hundred percent, but it could be much worse.
Well fingers crossed you will be 100% in no time, and you just be careful when around ELT when he has a cold. :-)

*big comforting hug*

That sounds like a good idea, and even if it takes some time at least you have made a start and hopefully you can find a suitable place soon. Sorry to hear things keep going wrong at the moment, I hope you are done with your run of bad luck for now and can look forward to better things.

*lots more big hugs for the wonderful and lovely Fearful*

Yep. I've already responded to two apartments. Here's to hoping I have a shot at getting one soon. And thanks, I hope so too!

Well seems like good idea after what happened. Sorry to hear about what actually happened. Hopefully you'll find something in no time. Oh and don't censor the curses - it can be really refreshing to curse :)

Oh that sounds totally like my university which messed up my tutor contract - can understand that this is really annoying - oh well university administration doesn't go well with competence i guess :)

I'm keeping up a pretty much unrelenting stream of curses inside my head right now ... I'm still kind of furious about it all. How am I supposed to ever trust my landlord again when it turns out he hasn't been paying the bills in months? And he's always so aggressive about the fact that we have to make sure to pay our rent on time ... dick.

I swear that this university (the university of Amsterdam) is even more messed up than mine, which is saying something. I now get all those budget cuts in education ... it's because they can't keep their administration straight and keep on paying people more than they should be getting. Even after said people have been nice enough to point out their mistake and give the money back.

I swear to god, if I wasn't as honest as I am they never would have caught on to the fact that they paid me 400 euros too much ... Losers. :P
