ddickinson: But he never claimed otherwise. He was always honest with his inspirations and never tried to act like he had invented the wheel. Plus he had a lot more creativity with the works than some authors who did just copy quite a lot of others works. Plus Tolkien took very old sources as his inspiration, some of the over a thousand years old, not from authors who were still alive or had been up until recently.

*big silly hug before hiding from the creepy Potter army*
Does JK? I'm not really sure, I never pay attention to her as a person.

At any rate, my own vision is that something does not need to be original as long as it's fun. If I enjoy reading something I don't mind if it's a rehashed plot. :P

That just means Tolkien was a little better at stealing! ;)

I wish ^^ *big return hug*

CarrionCrow: That doesn't sound too bad, especially since you're doing pretty well right off the bat. (Unlike the image of the crying guy running away and never returning...;) )

Used to it. No big thing. Figuring that if nothing else, once I finally get off my ass more and start going to a gym, I'll be nice and exhausted every day. Easier sleep then.
I'm still waiting for my fellow intern to teach his first class. Really curious to see if it'll end in tears ... He showed up on the other side of the window as I was teaching my class today. I made it clear to him non-verbally that he should piss off. :P

Yeah, physical excercise helps a lot. I sometimes do some yoga before bed and I'm usually exhausted at the end of a session.

Yezemin: Does that really surprise you? It's always ELT's fault after all.

So should I give these cold meds to you instead?
-laughs-

Nah, I'm fine. Already popping enough pills as is. Thank you, though. =)

ElTerprise: Yes i think we talked abut it before. It's "funny" that we still have different systems despite the Bologna Accords......

Yes...you definitely have more work than me at the moment... :)
Yeah, still can't quite wrap my head around it ... :P

Things are just planned a bit unfortunately. And it's partly my own fault for taking on an extra course. :P

CarrionCrow: It seems to happen in cycles, at least for me. Get in a certain mood, play a lot of a certain genre, then go onto something else.

I'd rather have a promo with games recommended by me. It'd just be a huge pile of pain and awfulness. A few dozen titles that either kick the player's teeth in, are miserable pieces of shit, or both.

They're getting there. Forum people are bitchy, myself most certainly included, but the bottom line remains that we are in the super minority compared to the rest of the customer base.

-laughs- Yeah, I'm not quite that far gone just yet. Course, give me another sequence where 2 to 6 games in a row are frigging bad and that might start to shift a bit.
I am the same, except for while I have bene ill when staring at a screen for too long makes my head feel 100x worse. At least when playing with my partner she can be in control and I can take breaks if needed.

That could be a fun idea. Maybe we should do that during the next big sale, each make a list of games based on a theme. :-)

I understand some of the complaining and things, but I just think sometimes people ask too much, especially when places like Steam don't even offer those things and Steam is huge compared to GOG.

And then you will just be sitting there, rocking in your chair and fiddling your broken thumbs which you broke trying to get the game to work as it should. :-)

You can have fun on the other side of that coin. If possible, you could do the same thing to them, only with a look on your face of intense disapproval, capped off with sort of an exasperated sigh, like you can feel their ineptitude through the window. That'll mess with their head the entire time...>=)

Well, I doubt I'll be doing yoga. Rhino contortionist? Not likely. But overall, it should be helpful.

Me neither - and the programmes definitely got worse here - i mean all my professors are still complaining about it....

Well that wasn't the best idea - was it? :P
At least i hope the course was worth it.

Okay...that's not good. Certainly not worth it.

That does sound like fun. I always enjoy seeing what games people hate. =)

That's the internet for you. People complain a lot, about pretty much everything.

If you talk to many of her fans they will act like she does, and make claims she was the mastermind of fiction. She has hinted at a few sources, but I think only after being called on them. I remember reading about one author who was at a panel and they asked him why he stole a character from Harry Potter, to which he replied that he thought they both stole the character from T.H. White, which I found funny.

I know, I am only joking for the most part. Personally I can't stand them, but if others like them then great. My main problem is with the praise and admiration they have, when they are really nothing special. I like that they got many people into reading, but they are just not for me. So no offence intended, just some playful fun. Sorry if it came off more cynical than I intended, my head is a little off today due to a few things.

Damn right he was, you can't be a professor and make up over 23 fully fleshed out languages without being smart. :-)

A wand? Okay *gets a gun*. Now let's see that wand in action.

*notices Fearful start to say a spell, but before she finished I fire, killing Fearful instantly. "Well... that was a bit of an anticlimax. Why did that bad guy from the book not just do this to Potter to begin with, or just kill him when he was little, or get one of his servants to do it when he was younger? Oh well". Drags Fearful's body and hides it so no one knows.*

But I can't just leave Fearful like that. Oh, I know. *resurrects Fearful in the fashion of Mary Shelly* There you go, almost as good as new. :-)

*big silly hug*

Not at all. I can manage small bursts, but then I need a little rest, even if it is just for a few moments.

I am not sure what I would pick. I know the only game so far I abandoned was Mousecraft (I nearly said Mousehunt) as I found it just dull and it just did not appeal to me. So my top worse would require some thought. But I agree, it would be fun.

They do? I never noticed that. I always thought the internet was full of nothing but lovely people. Or is that just our little thread here? :-)

-laughing hard- Uh huh...the internet's just chock full of the most pleasant of souls.

And now, I have to run off again and do more crap. Didn't think today would be quite so active.
Back in a bit.
*humorous moments in Ixamyakxim's life v3.572*

So earlier I made oatmeal raisin cookies (technically incorrect - I haven't made them yet - I made the batter - it's chilling in the refrigerator right now). I'm dangerous with a day free, I know.

The recipe called for molasses - well yay the co-op sells blackstrap molasses in bulk, so I can buy the tiny amount I need without having to get a huge container of the stuff. If you don't know (and I only vaguely do, from brewing) I guess molasses comes in "grades" of how cooked down / reduced it is (I guess?).

So I taste the stuff... holy cow. It's like sucking on semi-sweet car exhaust mixed with wood smoke and a ton of umami / soy in the background. LOL - okay, maybe I should have tasted AND THEN added, not the other way around. Luckily, the batter was a TON muted - I was scared to death this stuff would overpower the cookies. I'll let you know the "results" of said cookies tonight if anyone cares ;)

But I don't want to scare them off too badly either. That's bad for my image. :) Although the idea of messing with their minds is fun ...

I'll have you know yoga is suited for pretty much anybody as long as you start out easy. :P But I can imagine that not everyone is attracted to it.

Not really, but I hoped to save time by doing the course now instead of next year, so things would be a bit easier then ... The course is pretty interesting, yeah. :P

I see. I tend to stay away from drama so I haven't really put much thought into it. :P I recently read a post-modernist novel in which the author takes an entire chapter to explain what he stole from whom. :P

Don't worry, it didn't come across as cynical. :) I just enjoy a good debate now and then. :P And I'm especially passionate about Tolkien. I respect the man for his critical genius and his skill with Old English, and even for his writing, but having seen how much he stole from other sources I have trouble calling him original.

*dies*

*gets resurrected*

Woohoo! Henceforth I shall be known as Lazarus! The one who writes horror/science fiction!

*uses wand to put up hair*

Also, I'm off to bed now since I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open. Have a good night, everyone!

Well that reminds me of my R seminar i had one week before i went to Copenhagen - which resulted in me having to finish my work diary for that seminar immediately after i returned home...
That's good :)

Tolkien's non-fiction works were very interesting, you could feel his passion for things. His writings on war were also quite interesting, especially as he was an officer during the First World War. True, I did not mean to imply his works were all original, I just mentioned him as he is often one of those compared to JK, probably just due to the movie adaptations being released around the same time.

So you are now Lazarus the Frankenstein wizard? But I think Witch sounds better, much more ancient and powerful.

Goodnight, I hope you have a good night's sleep ready for the morning. Sweet dreams!

*big goodnight*
