tinyE: WHEN DID GOOD&FRUITY CHANGE THEIR FORUMLA!?!

These things are half the size they used to be and the centers are all soft. They used to be like licorice.

zeogold: You're thinking of Good & Plenty, probably.
Or Mike and Ike.
Good & Plenty makes Good & Fruity. and when I was a kid they were identical in size and texture, only had way different flavors.
avatar
PookaMustard: That is good to know. I should see if people are interested in a new kind of story and whatnot then. Thanks for the answer. Anything more to add on, people?
I am not sure I was any real help, but you are welcome.

Well, no wonder. When you were a kid, the dinosaurs were still roaming the earth.

ddickinson: People make threads for all reasons, I think some have shared their works on a thread as well. So I don't think many would mind. I say many as there are always a few who might, but on the whole I don't think people would mind at all. But that is just my opinion.

Some people might get mad about you self-promoting, but the majority of people should be cool with it. I say you go ahead and do it, it's worth it for the publicity of those who are fine with it.

FearfulSymmetry: But I don't want to scare them off too badly either. That's bad for my image. :) Although the idea of messing with their minds is fun ...

I'll have you know yoga is suited for pretty much anybody as long as you start out easy. :P But I can imagine that not everyone is attracted to it.
Okay, option two - Wait for them to complete the course, then give them a small gift. When they ask why you're giving them a gift, just say that you'd heard things didn't go well, so you wanted to cheer them up.
When they ask who mentioned it, just become very apologetic and say that you shouldn't have mentioned it at all.
They'll either be confused, and the slow erosion of their confidence can begin, or they'll be under the impression that those evaluating them are commenting aloud that they're doing a bad job.
Either way, it works against them, and it'll just be you trying to console them after poor performances if anyone wants to observe the situation.

It's not that I wouldn't at least be willing to try. I'd just need an empty room, for the sake of not traumatizing anyone who had to bear witness to the display.

ddickinson: He had quite the effect on C.S. Lewis as well, even to the extent of influencing Lewis' religion.
I actually did not know this! Thanks! I haven't read too much of Lewis, but I have to admit his more explicitly religious works are some of my favorites. It's been FAR too long but I think The Problem of Pain is one of the better texts I've ever read. And for a bit lighter (but still very good) I liked The Screwtape (I think was the demon's name?) Letters.

AgentBirdnest: How much of your GOG backlog have you completed?

13.6% ... *ahem* :-|
Getting close to 12 percent overall. Hoping to knock a substantial chunk out of it this year.

Also, since you enjoy FPS's, feel free to check this out and tell me what you think.

Tolkien reintroduced Lewis into religion after Lewis has lost his faith. I was about to say that his religious work is very interesting, even for non-religious people. He adds his wonderful way with words to what could often turn out to be preachy theological work. Screwtape was very nice, and I think it was the senior demons name, but it has been some time since I last read them. I really liked that he was proud of his religion and clearly enjoyed sharing his views, but it never came off in a preachy way like many seem to do. I think Lewis even dedicated a few of his books to Tolkien, as they became quite close friends.

-quietly giggling- I was referring to the molasses content, not the raw egg component.
But I very much like your degree of passion on the subject. The mental image of someone screaming,"You spineless pussies, I've eaten raw dough SINCE BIRTH and it's never hurt me one bit!" while clutching a mixing bowl and spatula makes me smile. =)

I first saw it back when it was just being called Hardcore. And then, since my memory is shit, I basically forgot about it.
But now? Holy frigging crap do I hope it shows up at the local theater when it's released.

It is certainly interesting - never seen anything like that before.

Ô__Ô ! ... I might go crazy watching that - I'd get frustrated when Henry doesn't move the way I want him to ;-) ... I'm not too crazy about shaky cameras either (almost blorffed from watching Cloverfield.)
That said - it's a really cool idea, and I'd certainly be interested in seeing it sometime. Thanks for the link :-)
