AgentBirdnest: Oh, I didn't realize that we did that ;-)
Papers, Please !! One developer, and I think he even did the music. Apparently Banished was a single person as well. Very impressive.
I did not know Paper, Please was one developer, but I do recall Banished being one developer, and that game was very well optimised from what I remember. Papers, Please !! One developer, and I think he even did the music. Apparently Banished was a single person as well. Very impressive.
I don't own any of the games from the promo. Well I would not really say interested in exactly, just the ones that look a little appealing compared to the others but maybe not games I would get. They are Shantae And The Pirate's Curse, Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut, and Freedom Planet. They remind me of the old Sega platformer games. But as I said, not really games I will get, just ones that look appealing out of the games on the promo.

Well some of the one-developer-games or those done by really small teams often put big developers to shame when it comes to optimisation :) I don't own any of the games from the promo. Well i played a bit of Freedom planet. It is basically a Mega Drive generation Sonic game in all but name. It's quite nice with a really good sountrack :)
But yes they stand out of the selection - i'd add Risk of Rain to it though :)
*big return hug*
Hey Moon :)
How are you doing?

I did look at Risk of Rain, but I am not really a fan of those kind of Rouge-Lite games, in fact I don't think I really own any, although FTL does look appealing.
j0ekerr: If you ever enjoyed playing a Sonic game I would recommend Freedom Planet.
However is not for the lactose intolerant.
So... much... cheese!
That is exactly what the game reminded me of. However is not for the lactose intolerant.

They do indeed. Look at Dust, a console port but with so much effort put into the PC version. It is strange though, how indie teams can (sometimes) optimise their games better than big developers. Although when you see the terrible things like the Downfall "remake" and the terribly poor optimisation that has you would thing otherwise. :-) Well i played a bit of Freedom planet. Yep. Dust is a prime example for that. I guess it comes down to the fact that small developers rely on putting out a polished experience while big developers can afford botching a game (prime example would be Arkham Knight which is still utterly broken on PC). But then again not all of the indie developers are good at optimising their games. Haven't play the Downfall Redux game - is it that terrible in terms of its optimisation?
Be careful if you get FTL. It's really addictive :)
Well i'm also not the biggest fan of Roguelike/lite games but now and again i love playing them :)

Downfall is now supposed to be in the same engine as The Cat Lady. Look at the specs for that game, then look at the specs for the new Downfall. It requires a quad-core, 4GB RAM, 1GB VRAM (although it recommends 8GB RAM and 2GB VRAM). Then take a look at the screenshots for Downfall, and then look at The Witcher games, for example. You tell me how a game like Downfall requires such specs when much better games have similar or even less specs. But then again not all of the indie developers are good at optimising their games. I am not sure why I like the look of FTL when I am not a big fan of Rogue-lite games, but something about it just appealed to me. I might get it and hate it, but who knows. Maybe it will start my love for the genre.

*stops hugging so Owl can breath again, she was turning blue* :-)
Pretty cool? That sounds like a good Monday, which is good to hear.
My Monday has been pretty lazy, just chatting on here and on chat and also getting a few things done around the house. Things should get a bit more stressful as the week goes on as I have a few appointments, but other than that I am just tying my best to behave and not overdo things. I get to go to work now and then soon, which will be great. I won't be allowed to really do anything, just maybe spend some time with the animals and things, but it will be nice to get out of the house and kind of be at work, and at least I will be kept under close watch so I don't get tempted to do actual work of if I am not feeling too well.
*big lazy return hug with an extra silly bonus hug*

Wow that's really bad. And it seems like the specs are accurate as i double-checked them with Steam.... I just can't see the justification for such a low quality 2D game. But then many indie developers these days just don't bother to optimise their games. They usually blame the engine, but take Unity for example, some developers have Unity games that are really well optimised, so it is more likely lazy developers and not just the engine. That's how it started for me ;)
It is a shame it was not included with the week promo. I saw it on Humble a while ago for 75% off, so maybe we will get that here someday and I can try it myself.
